Weather is meant to deteriorate over the next few days, so I thought I'd better make an effort. It was pretty hot though. Will need to go earlier or later in day over summer. Monday, October 3, 2011. It hasn't stopped raining since we got back from Greece, and it seems as if it's going to get worse. So I've been checking out some of my holiday pics to cheer myself up. I'm having trouble uploading pics from Picasa Web to my blog, although you can check them out via the Picasa link on the left. After a couple of days the sun is now shining and I was able to upload pics from my computer.

Monday, October 3, 2011. Batten down the hatches! First decent rain for a while. Great for the garden, but not so good for tv viewing. Rain fade paints an interesting picture, but at least there's nothing important on to be ruined by it. The strong winds are what I hate. Sunday, August 31, 2008. The fruit trees are blossoming and the birds are busy. Here is the elusive Grey Warbler. I spotted it from my kitchen a couple of days ago. It was taking away nesting material from an old nest in the cherry tree. The Kereru have been very active lately, and I managed to get this shot today. While one was perched above our drive. Ted enjoying a well earned cuppa after establishing an excellent camp site at the Lake. By the time we arrived at the camp site on Friday all was set up including a double height airbed for Maurie and I - Lea made the ultimate sacrifice - that girl rocks!

Passionfruit were not so great this year - time for a rethink and replant! Feijoas best not mentioned, so next planting round will include more of these, pears and maybe a persimmon - they are the most beautiful autumn tree for colour and fruit. All this amazes me as we had such a long hot and extremely dry summer - and autumn is looking to be equally as dry.
