Saturday, October 25, 2008. The Joys of Vacation. Not that the last month has been uneventful. . Sukkot is quite an experience in Israel. Emily and I spent the first chag of sukkot with our close friend Arie in Tel Aviv. The community there was very nice, and it's important to get out of Jerusalem every once in a while. After landing and getting of our luggage, we took a sherut (a shared-ride van) from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. We didn't arrive to our new apartment until 8:30 that night. We left on a Thursday morning from Jerusalem and headed south with all of the JTS and Ziegler rabbinical students and spouses. Ketura is a kibbutz that is deep in the Arava desert, about 35 minutes from Elat.
