We began our visit to Beijing with a trip to Tiananmen Square and the Temple of Heaven. We were fortunate to have two events in the Great Hall of the People. We enjoyed wandering the streets; there is a tremendous amount of construction, in part due to preparation for next year’s Olympics. China was most interesting, but it was delightful to get to Tokyo. Tokyo is one of the great cities of the world, we think, and we always enjoy returning to its charms. We stayed a block or two west of Ginza. We arrived just in time for Golden Week - which turned out to be most interesting! The streets of Ginza were closed to automobiles and converted into Pedestrian Heavens. Traditional Carp for Boy’s Day (May 5). Street Shrine (Note Stitch on the Left! Police on Alert (Very Unusual for Tokyo).
