The eastern slopes of the San Francisco Peaks and the vast cinder area near Sunset Crater and points further east, were logged by the Arizona Lumber and Timber Company between 1908 and 1917. The tracks used to access these areas started at the Greenlaw Mill which was located in the general area of where the Flagstaff Mall is currently located (Stein 1993).
