I'm an Aussie, this is my journey exploring embroidery, and whatever pops up along the way. Friday, 1 May 2015. A gift for Mother in Law. Now I have a better sewing machine for my travels around Australia, I've been busy making gifts. This one is for hubby's mother for Mothers Day next weekend, so finished just in time. Jan moved into her new (old) home, had the interior walls painted a soft musky pink. This is to be hung near her back door. 2 May 2015 at 16:58. 12 May 2015 at 21:51. You have my express ...

Arlene's Blog: Where have I been?????
http://arlenes-crafts.blogspot.com/2015/05/where-have-i-been.html
I'm an Aussie, this is my journey exploring embroidery, and whatever pops up along the way. Monday, 18 May 2015. Where have I been? Well where has the time flown, we left Townsville on the 29th January this year just five minutes before our house settled. We have now made it as far south as the Central Coast NSW. We will be here for the next three months house sitting. This is our position on my brothers property, what a view, was a little noisey with the highway within cooey of us. The coastal scenery h...

Just let me stitch!: Module Two. Chapter Two.
http://justletmestitch.blogspot.com/2012/09/module-two-chapter-two.html
Just let me stitch! A record of my work for C&G Level 3 Embroidery Certificate with Distant Stitch. Sunday, 2 September 2012. Module Two. Chapter Two. This chapter continues looking at tone by demonstrating the development of tone in columns of stitching. This first sample uses only cross stitch and black and white threads of varying thicknesses to show tonal range. Strangely I find the reverse quite pleasing. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Just let me stitch! A record of my work for C&G Level 3 Embroidery Certificate with Distant Stitch. Sunday, 26 February 2012. Module One. Chapter Eight. I have continued to combine shapes from the cut and fold exercises in chapter 4 for these samples. My preliminary drawings with possible shape and stitching combinations. My next sample comprises a painted calico background layer with a bonded shape overlayed with stitching in a shape taken from my cut and fold exercises. When I did the drawing for this ...

Just let me stitch! A record of my work for C&G Level 3 Embroidery Certificate with Distant Stitch. Sunday, 2 September 2012. Module Two. Chapter One. This module uses just black and white with animal markings as the design inspiration. This first chapter looks at tone; various ways of suggesting tone, using a range of different media, have been experimented with and the results are shown below. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Just let me stitch! A record of my work for C&G Level 3 Embroidery Certificate with Distant Stitch. Sunday, 2 September 2012. Module Two. Chapter Four. Drawing Patterns from Animal Markings. I should declare that drawing scares me! This chapter has given me much more confidence as I have spent quite a lot of time on these little sketches! 5 September 2012 at 13:32. These are spectacular samples Jules. Great work. Hugs Elizabeth xxx. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.
Just let me stitch!: Module Two. Chapter Three.
http://justletmestitch.blogspot.com/2012/09/module-two-chapter-three_2.html
Just let me stitch! A record of my work for C&G Level 3 Embroidery Certificate with Distant Stitch. Sunday, 2 September 2012. Module Two. Chapter Three. Using machine stitching to show tonal effects. Each image below has a notation describing how the tonal effect has been created. The cable stitch was surprisingly easy to achieve and even layering up the stitching was quite easy – I kept waiting for some resistance from the machine but it even coped with some quite dense layering. Just let me stitch! A record of my work for C&G Level 3 Embroidery Certificate with Distant Stitch. Sunday, 2 September 2012. Module two. Chapter Five. Monoprinting is a technique I haven’t tried before, I was very pleased with the results. I liked the fact that the results were not totally predictable, making a second print when less of the ink was on the glass has also given a pleasing range of tones in my patterned papers. Sponged ink using scrunched paper. Cardboard tube dipped in ink. End of cardboa...

Threads and patches: April 2013
http://threads-and-patches.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Monday, April 29, 2013. This is a sheer black fabric with golden spiderwebs. I ironed misty fuse at the back. The white is the unsolved glue of the misty fuse. Fortunately the glue solves when the spiderweb is ironed on the quilt. The sheer black fabric is hardly visible, but the golden spiderweb is. This is exactly what I had in mind ;-). http://threads-and-patches.blogspot.com/2012/01/tast-week-2-buttonhole-stitch.html
Friday, January 13, 2012. TAST week 2: buttonhole stitch. 2012 week 2 the stitch was buttonhole stitch, you can find it here. The seam treatment is embroidered with DMC pearl 5, just a basic buttonhole stitch. The real color is lilac ;). For the flowers I arranged the long and short buttonhole stitch around the center of the flower. The hearts are embroidered in french knots with 4 strands of DMC stranded coton. The lower part of the middle section is embroidered in a scalloped filling buttonhole stitch.
