The Armchair Gypsy: A wee drappie whisky (Exploring Edinburgh)

http://armchairgypsy.blogspot.com/2006/10/wee-drappie-whisky-exploring-edinburgh.html

Saturday, October 14, 2006. A wee drappie whisky (Exploring Edinburgh). Caught the bus to Princes street. And began walking the length up to the castle. There was so much to see-little shops selling all kinds of memorabilia, a shop called ‘Thistle Do Nicely’ , pubs and at the very head of the street-the Scottish whiskey heritage centre on side , the Scottish Mill on our right and the Castle standing grand and tall. Our first stop was the Camera Obscura. Is again a great visit, watch tartan being woven on...

The Armchair Gypsy: October 2005

http://armchairgypsy.blogspot.com/2005_10_01_archive.html

Thursday, October 20, 2005. Some days are full stops. There are some days when journeys are interrupted.rudely without warning-like a full stop in an unfinished sentence. Its always annoying when the best laid plans go awry. I love to plan. I guess that's why I've always been an armchair gypsy! So I am off.to somewhere.I don't really know where.but that doesn't really matter! Monday, October 10, 2005. Passing through the land of passes. The unexpressed sorrow at returning to life as usual often comes in.

The Armchair Gypsy: Life in the Fast Lane – My Guide to a Grand Prix Getaway

Wednesday, January 10, 2007. Life in the Fast Lane – My Guide to a Grand Prix Getaway. Michael Schumacher retired from racing Ferraris last year. But the lure of the sport and the chance to see Fernando Alonso race for McLaren or Kimi Raikkonen for Ferrari will keep die hard fans of the sport coming back for more this racing season. The Tried and Tested Way. The official formula one website lists packages through trusted operators and has been in existence for years. The Value for Money Way. Holiday pack...

The Armchair Gypsy: Hamish more amazing can this get?

http://armchairgypsy.blogspot.com/2006/10/hamish-more-amazing-can-this-get.html

Saturday, October 14, 2006. Hamish more amazing can this get? Our next stop on the trip of the Trossachs was Loch Drunkie. Oddly enough its named for exactly what it seems to be. The loch was notorious for bootleggers who brewed their stuff by its banks. When the law came around-they’d dunk barrelfuls of their illicit produce into the lake which soon got a reputation for being ‘drunk’! We stopped short of filling a few bottles of the stuff to take back! Too much tragedy and blood split over the lands-cam...

Some Reflections...: The Sage and the Egg

http://theskymind.blogspot.com/2011/12/sage-and-egg.html

Monday, December 05, 2011. The Sage and the Egg. Here is a story about Ramana Maharishi. and how I relate to it. It was the early hours of the morning in the Hall of Sri Bhagavan. He had had His bath, and now went to the farther end of the Hall to take His towel that hung from a horizontally suspended bamboo, at one end of which a sparrow had built her nest and laid therein three or four eggs. Can the cracked eggshell be pieced together again? So saying, He took a piece of cloth, wetted it, wrapped it ar...

Some Reflections...: August 2009

http://theskymind.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html

Wednesday, August 12, 2009. Thus speaks the celebrated Sankara in his Viveka Chudamani or "Jewel Crest of Discrimination":-. For all souls, a human birth is difficult to obtain,. More so is a male body;. Rarer than that is Brahminhood;. Rarer still is the attachment to the path of Vedas;. Higher than this is erudition in the scriptures;. Discrimination between the Self and not-Self,. And continuing in a state of identity with the Supreme Soul. 8211; these come next in order. If at the end of such a quest...

http://theskymind.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html

Monday, February 11, 2013. Toothache and Time Travel. Which one is more fascinating, History or Alternate History? All those great sagas draw me in, I wander through the ages. I wonder what it would be like to actually be there, to march with legions, to sweep across the steppes with the Mongol horsemen, to sail with the Armada. And then, what would the world be like if that stray arrow didn’t hit Raja Hemu? What if the Greeks didn’t ignore the steam engine that they had invented? I guess what ultimately...

Saturday, March 21, 2015. The ocean i.e. the reef @ Waikiki is shallow. Don't be scared :). All you need to do is stand up on the board :). If you fall, just pull the board back to you using the harness, don't swim to it :). The equipment is available in stores, practice in a pool. It is quite easy. You don't need one. Most places have tours that pick you up from the hotel. It is OK, don't be scared :). Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.
