Arms Wide Open

Monday, July 20, 2015. We have been overwhelmed, totally blown away, by our friends who have offered to host fundraisers for our adoption and by those that have supported our adoption so far. When we adopted Asher, we were able to do it independently and save us a little money, but last year the U.S. passed a law. So here is a list of upcoming fundraisers for our adoption. Thank you SOOO much to everyone for your support. You have no idea how much we appreciate it! July 27-30 - Lularoe Clothing Fundraiser.

Arms Wide Open: December 2013

http://www.armswideopenjames127.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html

Monday, December 23, 2013. Thursday, December 19, 2013 was Asher's Adoption Finalization Day - what a long awaited event for all of our family! Because I'm a sucker for comparison pics. And here's a few more pics while at court finalizing Asher's adoption. Steve taught him to say, "I'm fly! Steve took the stand first - when asked, he almost forgot our anniversary date, lol! SooooSteve had to come get him off the stand as he was enjoying himself a little too much ;-). Our family of five with our judge.

Thursday, October 24, 2013. Celebrating 6 Months Home With Asher Today! Time has sure flown by! It's hard to imagine just 6 months ago we walked through the doors of Tulsa International Airport with our little guy. About that topic yesterday. She wrote, "Before God came to us, we were basically orphans who didn't have a purpose in life. We didn't have anyone to guide us and give us hope. But now we were given a new meaning, a new life to chase after! We've had so much fun watching him with his "firsts".

Tuesday, June 30, 2015. I just returned from an amazing trip to Uganda. I traveled with five friends and our primary focus was working with a babies home in southeast UG and Sole Hope. Arms Wide Open: We Have Adoption T-Shirts!

http://www.armswideopenjames127.blogspot.com/2013/02/we-have-adoption-t-shirts.html

Friday, February 15, 2013. We Have Adoption T-Shirts! You've heard the phrase "Blood is thicker than water" meaning that the bonds between family (blood) are more important (thicker) than those formed with friends (water). But does blood define a family? We like to think LOVE is thicker than water. We want our adopted son to know that our love for him is greater than any blood bond could have formed and even though he was not born from my womb, he was born in our hearts. The guys at The Okay See. Oct 21,...

Arms Wide Open: November 2013

Tuesday, November 12, 2013. Our Adoption Journey in Pictures. We made this video for Asher before we met him. (Excuse the cheesiness). And here's our story. Once upon a time. Steve and I began volunteering for Project Hope Worldwide. Uganda is in Africa. Located on the equator. To UG - a life-changing experience! 2 1/2 million orphans in UG. My heart was broken and I knew we had to do something more. After much prayer and research, we said "Yes! This is the night we told the girls. March 13, 2012. Lost o...

Friday, December 9, 2016. Asher is loving his new school this year. He attends a school that works with homeschooling families - so he attends kindergarten on Tuesdays and Thursdays and we homeschool Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I also love it because all the teachers are certified and are amazing. It's been a win-win for our family. Here's a few pics and videos of their Fall Showcase. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Keep Calm and Love Big: October 2015

http://keepcalmandlovebig.blogspot.com/2015_10_01_archive.html

Monday, October 19, 2015. We recently did a makeover of our living room. The walls used to be painted a dark olive green with a glaze over that and our furniture was dark brown and a bit stuffy. The girls have been after me to change it for a while now. I used to be so good about updating our house but with adding a child to our family and keeping up with the kid's activities, the house has moved to the back burner. So while the girls were gone on their missions trip to Chicago. They come with a template...

Tuesday, January 8, 2013. Christmas was fairly low key for our family this year. We had great fun spending time making memories with friends and family. Here's our Christmas 2012 Wrap-Up. Visited the Owasso Tree Farm. We loooove the lights at Rhema. Abby sang in our church's Christmas program. And Mackenzie did a little dance during her ballet class. We celebrated with my sister, nephews, and Mom. And we celebrated with my sister, nephews, Dad and his family. And at Steve's aunt's for lunch. Portraits of...

Wednesday, December 28, 2016. Our first celebration was with my mother, sister, and her boys a few days before Christmas. Asher and Mercy were so excited Christmas morning to open their stockings and gifts. It's so fun to experience this special holiday through the eyes of a young child once again. Christmas Eve - leaving cookies and milk for Santa. Helping" Abby fix breakfast. The Christmas Story according to Asher and Mercy. We have so much to be thankful for this Christmas season but especially for ou...

Arms Wide Open | The ramblings of a Mother who loves her gay Son and is happy to support the GLBT community.

The ramblings of a Mother who loves her gay Son and is happy to support the GLBT community. January 31, 2014. My prayer is that one day love will be love. marriage will be marriage. I just read a thing with Kurt Cameron about the Grammy’s “mass wedding”. What was cool to me about that was that it wasn’t all gay or all straight…it was a wedding…period. Some day I pray it will be a wedding, not a gay wedding. It will be an adoption, not a gay adoption. It will be a couple, not a gay couple. Please, please,...
