It switched on at 10am from the east with the first thermal cycles coming through. Laguna is definitely a one pilot launch, so it took a while for everyone to get off. Where am I flying? Saturday, March 14, 2015. Monster climbs at Marshall. Exciting climbs straight off launch at Marshall in record breaking temperatures for March. Climbed straight from launch up to 10500ft - a 6000ft climb with max climb of 7m/s. I was well behind the main XC group of who Tavis Gustavson, Jonathan Deich (on a hang glider), Alex Gagarin, Paul Oddou and Ross Detweiller eventually got all the way to Kagel in a 5 hr flight. Quite honestly, it wasn't the sort of day regular pilots go out for, but it sure made for a full on competition task flying.
