The Nine Maidens - (Boskednan Stone Circle, Cornwall)'. Cornish Brown Slate. Steel. Oil Paints. This circle, on the hills above Gurnards Head, are said to be the figures of young maidens turned to stone for their sin. The work is intended to be kept closed and locked but when opened the interior contains a diagram of the circle created from the verse 'Watching Still, New Druids With Their Anteater Tongues Perform The Ancient Ritual Sacrifice Of maidens New'.

It is for me a magical place; which I have tried to capture in this piece.

The work that I am making at the moment can best be described as 'sculpture about landscape', not so much its literal depiction but rather my interaction with it; hence the inclusion of found objects, mostly from the site, and poetic musings about what the scene brought to mind. In the case of the 'Nine Maidens' stone circle series I have used Cornish slate.
