art + food + friends: May 2011

http://artfoodfriends.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

Art, food, and friends * craft, coffee, and conversation * wisdom, wine, and my perspective from a small town. Monday, May 30, 2011. Time to slow down. The school year has come to a close and it sure did fly by. Thinking about time - and it's ever increasing speed, I thought about two things. The first was a conversation with my 12 year-old, who one night when I was tucking her in, said, "Mom, time is going by too fast. I wish it would just slow down.". Slow down and enjoy life. Friday, May 27, 2011.

Art, food, and friends * craft, coffee, and conversation * wisdom, wine, and my perspective from a small town. Monday, July 25, 2011. I have spent some time in my studio recently, experimenting with new designs and styles. This is one of my latest. I almost always use words, so I decided to use lots of words. I still used a variety of patterned papers (on the sides), some vintage hardware (on the top) and a few old buttons. I like the conversation this one generates. Even the back has advice for you.

What a funny looking pair on this antique photo postcard. Father and son, perhaps, or two brothers? Junior: Aw, Pa, don't you whup my head again. Vintage postcards from the past to use in scrapbooking, collage and art. A collection of fun, funky, interesting, vintage postcards, ephemera, photographs and images. Friday, September 2, 2011. A great vintage photo of a woman feeding hundreds of chickens outside a large hen house. I don't know that I would want to be standing where she is. I wonder what she's thinking? What do you think? The back of this card is equally interesting:. Taken in Aug. I think we was. Labels: add a caption.

Everyday Life Through a Lens: February 2011

http://everydaylifethroughalens.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

Everyday Life Through a Lens. Thursday, February 24, 2011. Wow, isn't this fun? Two of my favorite pictures of my boys - one of Tim getting ready to play the viola, and one of Jack at the beach. Downloaded Photoshop Elements 9 to try out for 30 days. I see this purchase in my future. Its facial recognition doesn't seem as good and it isn't easy to blog as far as I can tell, but I should be able to use Picasa to fill in the gaps. Saturday, February 19, 2011. Friday, February 18, 2011. So now I am mulling ...

Vintage postcards from the past to use in scrapbooking, collage and art. A collection of fun, funky, interesting, vintage postcards, ephemera, photographs and images. Monday, June 6, 2011. Wild, wild West. Maybe your vacation is taking you to the wild, wild west. Enjoy Cattle Punching on a Jack Rabbit! This is a great travel postcard featuring a supersized rabbit. Everyday Life Through a Lens: Metro

http://everydaylifethroughalens.blogspot.com/2011/05/metro.html

Everyday Life Through a Lens. Monday, May 9, 2011. The Orange line New Carrollton train coming into the station. Of course it is dark in the station and I had the aperture open as far as it would go (5.6), but the shutter speed was still super slow (6 seconds). If you look closely, you can see the "C" of "Carrollton" repeated in the top orange stripe. The larger yellow stripe is the window looking into the lighted train car. Everyday Life Through a Lens. Sunday, January 30, 2011. This is Ginger Snap. In the first photo, she gets her first glimpse at her new home. In the second, she is hiding under a chair for the foreseeable future. Her foster dad said that she did this for about two days and then started hanging out with the people in the house, sitting with them, following them around and such. House feels like a home again. Everyday Life Through a Lens: Morning has Broken

http://everydaylifethroughalens.blogspot.com/2011/05/morning-has-broken.html

Everyday Life Through a Lens. Thursday, May 5, 2011. It is a crisp May morning, 40 some degrees and the sun is just hitting our cul-de-sac at the bottom of a wooded hill. This rhododendron(? Is beginning to emerge, and soon its red cousin will follow. The fully bloomed flower on the left is blurrier than I would like, but I am happy with the crispness of the rear two buds. I'm trying not to overthink the photographing and just get one on the blog every day. So, for today, rhododendron. This is my friend.
