Art Residency in Sweden: Nettle Soup and Cloudberries

http://artinsweden.blogspot.com/2011/05/nettle-soup-and-cloudberries.html

Art Residency in Sweden. Wednesday, May 18, 2011. Nettle Soup and Cloudberries. Carina is a keen and very good gardener. Here she shows us her garden and you can see the glass conservatory at the back of the house. Not a great garden photo as it was the beginning of Spring and nothing much had grown yet. In the woods, you sometimes see these little fellows, squirrels, with interesting haircuts. This guy was actually snapped by Craig in our backyard at Konstepidemin. Michael is about to eat his soup.

Art Residency in Sweden: Residency Report 2

http://artinsweden.blogspot.com/2011/05/residency-report-2.html

Art Residency in Sweden. Wednesday, May 11, 2011. Back with more paintings. As I said in my last blog of my work, I have been using various forms of inspiration in an attempt to learn as much as I can about the different ways I can use the wax/resin medium. This has continued. I have again used the Swedish glass artists in some pieces. This was one piece I painted where I started to create my own marks instead of trying to mimic the glass textures. Next was the Professor. You know it's him but only b...

Art Residency in Sweden: April 2011

http://artinsweden.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html

Art Residency in Sweden. Sunday, April 17, 2011. Phoebe and I have shopped together since she was a little girl who loved black dresses - yes, even at the age of 4 she had started dressing for Melbourne. So, I imagined Phoeb was walking around Gothenburg with me looking at the shop windows, with Phoeb giving me the rundown on what was style and what was lacking. Her taste is impeccable. So I started out quite close to where we are living in an area called Haga. A very upmarket street. In this street ther...

Art in the Outback. Monday, June 1, 2009. Day One at Bunginderry Artists' Camp. Still raining today as we got up to start our first day of painting. The rain is wonderful. 160points. Not sure how much that is in mm's. But sorely needed. Rain is a beautiful thing. So we set off to the shearing shed to paint views from the three doors. June 18, 2009 at 9:26 PM. What can I say? Your blog is wonderful, warm, loving, it shows who you are, a true human being! I have never been so famous! Day One at Bunginderry...

Art in the Outback: First Day's Paintings

http://artintheoutback.blogspot.com/2009/06/first-days-paintings.html

Art in the Outback. Monday, June 1, 2009. By the way, before you read this, you should skip to the blog below and read it first. I am new to this blogging and have put them in the wrong order. Lucy completed two paintings. This is one of them. It was her first time using the media, as I have said. Her work is soft and sensitive and related well to the local landscape. We all had fun with the light as it constantly changed on this rainy day, muting the colours of Bunginderry. The photos below show you the...

Art in the Outback: Fogged, Bogged but never Beaten

http://artintheoutback.blogspot.com/2009/06/fogged-bogged-but-never-beaten.html

Art in the Outback. Thursday, June 4, 2009. Fogged, Bogged but never Beaten. What a day. Heaps to talk about and tell you. But firstly, let me explain that when the fog appears in the outback, it means the rain is over. Great news for the artists, not so good for the people on the land. However, on top of it all, we decided - rain finished, mud drying - time to go further afield to Noel's Boulders. I should tell you at this stage that my friend. Last night. He said if you can. But unable to move further.

Art in the Outback: Day Three - Finally out in the open air at the White Hill

Art in the Outback. Wednesday, June 3, 2009. Day Three - Finally out in the open air at the White Hill. Great joy today at the Bunginderry. Artists' Camp. The weather has cleared and we were able. To get out the main track out of Bunginderry. To a place they call the White Hill. And the ground. From a distance. It changes. Your whole perspective on using colour and line. And then they continued to check us out during the morning. Out in the bush painting her heart out. And this is her interpretation of t...

Art in the Outback: Day Two - Printmaking in the Shearing Shed at Bunginderry

http://artintheoutback.blogspot.com/2009/06/day-two-printmaking-in-shearing-shed-at.html

Art in the Outback. Tuesday, June 2, 2009. Day Two - Printmaking in the Shearing Shed at Bunginderry. What a great day! Today we had another day in the shed doing a workshop in woodcuts. We laughed and talked and played tango music for the three latinos. From Adelaide. And most importantly, we made beautiful prints. So, the rain has stopped, it seems, but the mud is still ankle deep. Being in the shed was the best place. Using MDF instead of lino. As the print. having collaged. Lesley is shown here at wo...

Art in the Outback: A couple of pieces I painted

http://artintheoutback.blogspot.com/2009/06/couple-of-pieces-i-painted.html

Art in the Outback. Wednesday, June 3, 2009. A couple of pieces I painted. Not much to say here. Just wanted to show you a couple of canvasses I have painted while here. having such a wonderful time and the added thrill of being able to put out a couple of pieces makes my life even more wonderful. This is the piece I painted on the first day. The rainy day - looking from the shed. What amazed me is that the light mutes the colours and immediately. This is my painting from the White Hill at Bunginderry.
