Ellenberg vs. projects. January 28, 2015. Today the students expressed further frustration with Ellenberg’s book. It’s gotten repetitive and boring, apparently! The irony is that many of them say that to get the reading done, they are mostly skimming until they get to a cool part. My impression: they’re interacting with it in a superficial way, which is unsatisfying. And in order to figure out how to do that, I need to engage with the question in a less than superficial way myself. What are my goals?
