St John, Virgin Islands. Since 1981, Annie Caswell has been a freelance artist, involved with projects ranging from murals to designing wooden mobiles. She is drawn to express herself in clay and natural materials, sculpting the human form. Annie’s sculptures are all individually hand-built and then twice fired. First, the pieces are bisqued and then either raku-, pit-fired, or glazed using red iron oxides. Sometimes sacred objects adorn the sculptures.
