Wednesday, August 24, 2005. Terwijl de kinderen voor het laatst de cockatoos en papegaaien op hun arm krijgen leggen Rick en ik de laatste hand aan het pakken. Daarna gaan we het lekkere ontbijt buffet beneden eten. Ze hebben er zalm en heerlijke Goudse kaas. We eten veel, want we weten, dat we geen lunch zullen krijgen. Ze kunnen jaarlijks van deze vogels genieten op Aruba! Het is maar goed, dat we in Washington twee taxi’s moeten nemen, want in een auto zou dit alles gewoon niet passen. De kinderen en ...

Sunday, July 30, 2006. De nonstop vlucht rocks! Vandaag moeten we naar huis, is mijn eerste gedachten bij het wakker worden. Natuurlijk is het thuis ook heerlijk en vooral heerlijk warm met temperaturen over de 35 graden, dus wat dat betreft leveren we niets in. Maar die turquoise kleur van de zee, al die kleurige boten, het witte zand, het is moeilijk er afscheid van te nemen! Jeetje, wat zijn die moeilijk te onderscheiden van de rotsen! Een schorpioenvis is nauwelijks te onderscheiden van de rotsen!

Woensdag 13 augustus 2008. Dag 13: Afscheid van Aruba. Al heel vroeg in de nacht komt Saskia weer om een pijnstiller vragen. Daarna lukt het me niet meer de slaap te vatten. Ik heb het warm (later hoor ik van Rick, dat hij daar ook last van had, de airconditioning koelde niet goed) en allerlei gedachten dwalen door mijn hoofd. Dit keer vindt hij een crabbetje met minieme blauwe klauwtjes, dat er uitziet als een langpootmug. Die hebben we nog nooit gezien! Terug bij het hotel treffen we de kinderen bij he...
