Kilimanjaro rises 5,895 metres from its base, making it the tallest freestanding mountain in the world. When climbing you pass through a myriad of ecosystems on the way to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro Alpine moorland, Desert, Glacier, Savannah, Snow fields and Tropical jungle, the varied topography and vegetation encountered makes this journey priceless and life changing for anyone doing it.

Conquered in September 2010. The Climb – Peter (Mr Dish). On the first night of the trip we all decided that we should have special trekking names. For no other reason other than it seemed like a fun thing to do. Rob was named “young fella” because he is 45 and the youngest of the group. Michael’s name translates to Mikali in Swahili, therefore he was known as “Mikali”. Peter translates to Petri in Swahili so therefore he got “Mister Dish”, after the petri dish.
