Reflections, observations, and musings. Monthly Archives: January 2008. January 20, 2008. This story was related to me by my daughter (I’ll call her “What’s That You Say,” WTYS for short, pronounced “wits;” the “y” is silent.) over dinner at the Cheesecake Factory on November 19, 2007:. WTYS observed him during intermission gesturing wildly, glancing towards the stage as he spoke animatedly to his wife who offered comfort by gently stroking his back and shoulder in an oh-it’s-all right-let-it-go ma...

Reflections, observations, and musings. At age 67, I am smarter and freer than I have ever been. I wake up each day still clothed in my right mind. For that I am grateful. I feel loved and liked, occasionally tolerated, sometimes needed. I know that along the way I have helped somebody. I appreciate mystery and subtlety. I am a seeker of knowledge; hence, I’m constantly researching, discovering, and learning. People baffle, amuse, confound, and amaze me. I like myself–most days. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Reflections, observations, and musings. Monthly Archives: August 2011. The Bladder Does not Hold. August 10, 2011. I am 64 years old. I am not exactly certain what that means. Medicare–Part A, what to do about Part B? If I do nothing about the parts, what happens then? Will being of age to have a Medicare card mean that I get to be treated like I am a child: in a louder-than-usual voice, will someone ask, sighing, as if preparing for a protracted battle, “Ma’am, do you have your Medicare card?

Reflections, observations, and musings. The Devil Made Me Do It. January 20, 2008. One day last November as I stood in the checkout line at TJ Maxx, I realized that I did not have my wallet, hence no debit card and no driver’s license. In line behind me was a woman (I’ll call her Forty-something) whom I know and with whom I had been exchanging small talk and to whom I had murmured, “I don’t think I have my wallet.”. Nor, I suspect, was Forty-something, who assigned a series of happenstance events to some...

Re-falling in Love and a Noble Quest. October 31, 2007 at 2:33 am ( Beauty. Sometimes, instead of fantasizing about new products, it’s nice to look back at what you already have or have already fallen in love with and rediscover what made it so great. Better yet, I like to locate things that just sit in my makeup case most of the time and find uses for them. I may even consider other Lustres in the near future. (I love love love greens, so Swimming might be mine soon.). Nude Lips: Impossible Dream? How e...

Autumn Has Finally Arrived! November 3, 2007 at 3:16 am ( Commentary. I love autumn. It’s my favorite season. And even this year, when it is more stressful than any before, I am able to enjoy some of it. I love that the air gets crisp and the days get shorter. The artificial extra hour of sleep that comes with the end of Daylight Savings Time seems to benefit me for weeks. Twilight is full of jewel tones. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. May 30, 2008 at 2:27 am ( Personal. I can’t believe that only three posts ago I was happy about the arrival of autumn. Autumn! I am now careening into the month of June, and I have not made much progress in much of anything in my life. So … big sad face. But sadicons are not my reason for getting back to my blog. The real reason is that I want to blog. The problem, though, is that I don’t have much to write about. Tricky. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Address never made public).

Always Pleasant Little Things. October 26, 2007 at 6:21 pm ( Commentary. When I’m feeling down, I turn to one or more of my always pleasant little things — stuff I can do or experience or get that cheers me up a bit. I’d like to share some of them with you. The perfectly scented new bar of soap, body butter, body spray, etc. A pair of fluffy socks for walking around the house. A cashmere sweater that I got on sale. Listening to Billie Holiday while driving on an autumn afternoon. Enter your comment here.

December 22, 2007 at 11:21 pm ( Cosmetics. A while back — in October, I believe — I wrote a post about some of the things I was desiring. I am pleased to inform you that I got the big one: a hard case for Hamlet. He just loves it! It’s green and gorgeous. I went with the Bobelock, and I couldn’t be happier! It’s nice to sometimes be able to get some things that you want, isn’t it? January 21, 2008 at 5:19 am. Just dropping in to say a quick hello! Congrats on all the great stuff! My Oh-I-want-that! List | The Academic Drone
https://academicdrone.wordpress.com/2007/10/28/my-oh-i-want-that-list
October 28, 2007 at 11:42 pm ( Fun. In no particular order…. I have had my current plush bag for as long as I’ve had Hamlet. It’s a wonder he’s still in one piece, considering how clumsy I can be sometimes. So, I’m in the market for a hard cello case. Isn’t that pretty? A copper colored case! Fiberglass, pretty, fits in my budget (sort of). There is also a slightly older model that comes in other fantastic colors as well:. October 30, 2007 at 3:16 am. Mixing your own cosmetics! Thursday, October 23, 2014. Sweet and Spicy Oven Kabobs. Kabobs aren't just for the grill anymore. Dress a basic chicken kabob up however you want. Add onions, peppers, zucchini.whatever. It's your kabob. Bake at 375 for 25 minutes and there you have it! Oh, and make sure you've soaked your skewers for several hours, it should be a no brainer that you don't want to stick dried out wood in a blazing oven. Chicken breasts cut into kabob chunks. 4 tablespoons honey BBQ sauce. 1/2 cup brown sugar. My latest ...

Thursday, July 1, 2010. The most recent couple of times I noticed that peanut butter was making something taste better, I chalked it up to coincidence and the fact that it had the term butter in the title. Butter pretty much makes everything better. Then is started to notice that things I didn’t necessarily enjoy on their own were made incredibly tasty with the addition of some kind of peanut butter. Could this be mere chance? Mixed Vegetables with Asian Peanut Dressing. 2 bone in skin on chicken breasts.
