SXSW15 – Day 1: Observations. Posted on March 18, 2015. In the years between my last South by Southwest festival and the one that kicked off today, I’ve forgotten some things. It’s that selective memory that mothers have that enables them to willingly give birth more than once (or so I’ve heard). Protective forgetfulness that has a big payoff. This is what I was reminded of today:. Warehouse spaces are not good concert spaces, acoustically speaking anyway. The sound check between sets seems interminable.

Use a tripod, the more stable your camera, the sharper the image. Use live view, this way you can zoom in and verify the focus. Use a trigger release, this will minimize camera shake and if you use a wireless remote, it will nullify it all together. Use either off camera flash or continuous light. Continuous light is best because you see what you'll get.
