Gender Diversity in the Fire Department - Ashburnham Fire
http://ashburnhamfd.com/about/gender-diversity-in-the-fire-department
Gender Diversity in the Fire Department. Less than 4 percent of the nation’s firefighters are female, and the majority of career fire departments in the U.S. have never hired a female firefighter, according to a Cornell University study in 2008. According to the report, “Women are not getting recruited and hired because of an occupational culture that is exclusionary and unequal employment practices in recruiting, hiring, assigning, and promoting women.”.
