Some things that I saw that one time...: October 2007
http://arasius.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html
Some things that I saw that one time. Wednesday, October 31, 2007. The western-most point of "mainland" France - that is to say excluding the many islands that are sitting in the Caribbean or some obscure place in the middle of the ocean. The only way to get to and from this island is by Ferry. I would say the majority of the people that visit the island do so on a bicycle. Here some pictures of what used to be a typical Breton home. It basically consisted of one room which was divided by furniture. ...

Some things that I saw that one time...: May 2008

Some things that I saw that one time. Saturday, May 24, 2008. Of course, we had to out in Cannes during the festival to see all the hustle and bustle. The club that we normally went to was having a Dolce and Gabanna party (I think), so there was no way we'd be able to get in there. So we all got in our best dress and set out for the town. Pictures borrowed from Adda and Johanna :-). Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). A-lex's Pictures (he really wants you to look at these).

Some things that I saw that one time. Sunday, August 17, 2008. I'd love to have that in my backyard, wouldnt you? There's a story here about this little church - and I will tell you all about it once I can access my hd (I left the stupid power adaptor at home). During the late 80s there was an oil spill here - this is still evident by the tar spots on the rocks. You'll notice it more on the big rocks in the background. So yeah, here we are July. on the beach. and it's freakin' freezing!

Some things that I saw that one time...: March 2008
http://arasius.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html
Some things that I saw that one time. Monday, March 24, 2008. Judy and I decided to go and have lunch in Gréolière (pronounced grey-oh-lee-air) since this would probably be the last time she'd be able to venture into the mountains. The range is absolutely beautiful and it looks as if it goes on forever. It's nice to go to places like this as it reminds you that the whole world is not completely packed with cars, concrete and people everywhere. I grew up in Georgia where it snows every 20 years. Hand-pain...

Some things that I saw that one time...: Fort Carré

Some things that I saw that one time. Sunday, July 27, 2008. The model - since I couldn't actually get a picture of the real thing from that angle. Designed by Vauban - he designed several buildings and forts (37) and upgraded many others (approx 300) around France. His style is incredibly distinctive, so you can usually tell when he built it. Vauban was a key figure in advising Louis XIV about securing France's borders. Behind the walls, situated in the middle, are the officer's quarters.

Some things that I saw that one time...: April 2008
http://arasius.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
Some things that I saw that one time. Saturday, April 05, 2008. It's Springtime - time for the Festival of Flowers. I'm not sure that this is something typically done every where. In fact, I don't believe it is. This is in Haut Cagnes-Sur-Mer (pronounced oh-ca-nye-sur-mare) - translates to the top of Cagnes on the sea. At the very top, with a view of both the sea and mountains, is a small castle where the Flower Festival was held. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Some things that I saw that one time...: December 2007
http://arasius.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html
Some things that I saw that one time. Tuesday, December 25, 2007. I didn't get to go home for Christmas this year - but thankfully Flo's family welcomed me to their home for the holidays. Well, actually, it was Christmas Eve. And when I came down for dinner, I had no idea it was going to be something this nice - I was just expecting a dinner like any other. It was quite a pleasant surprise for me. We were all pretty excited about the evening as we had foie gras amongst many other goodies. I find this str...

Some things that I saw that one time...: Farewell Amadeus!
http://arasius.blogspot.com/2008/07/farewell-amadeus.html
Some things that I saw that one time. Friday, July 04, 2008. Unfortunately, I didn't get to work at main campus. I was a mile or two away at the HP building. A much smaller atmoshere. These buildings were so difficult to get around in that I would joke about how the aptitude test that HR gives is only to ensure that people don't get lost in the buildings. It felt pretty nice to walk through those doors though. Looks remarkably similar to the metro gates in Paris. same company? Out and About in Antibes.

Some things that I saw that one time...: June 2008
http://arasius.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html
Some things that I saw that one time. Saturday, June 21, 2008. Fête de la Musique. So every year on the first day of spring, nearly every city/village across France celebrates the Fete de la Musique, the Music Festival. Streets and town centers were turned into venues for bands and djs to perform. People crowded the streets and the events didn't stop until 3am (which is early by french party standards). Johanna, Fernando, Me, Hannes. Oh yes I did. I danced with a street performer. Friday, June 20, 2008.
