Mechanical pencil is great for this type of work, because you don't need to keep stopping to sharpen it. But why tracing paper? Friday, August 13, 2010. Welcome to the Ashita Ne! Our illustrations, which have appeared separately and also in our "Candy Smile Love" visual book (August 2010), are really "mixed media" works. Some artists create beautiful CG work using only a computer and a graphic tablet, but we've always preferred the hand-drawn look of our pencil illustrations. So our working method consists of making a pencil sketch, scanning it, then doing the clean-up, colouring and background work in Photoshop.
