Making more tracks than necessary, some in the wrong direction. Wednesday, April 13, 2011. Hello there. It's been a while! I feel like I should start by finishing my pie story. I didn't place. Sad, I know. But, I did get a nifty little score card in the mail that tells me how many points I go in each category! Contrary to how my life seems on this little bloggy blog, I actually have been up to more than just pie making. Thank goodness. Let's see: my sister had twins babies! Plans for this spring:.

Making more tracks than necessary, some in the wrong direction. Wednesday, January 20, 2010. As you read my last few blogs, it might become obvious that I haven't been very inspired lately. I don't know why I write when I'm not really clear on all my thoughts - probably with the anticipation that writing will help sort them out? Under healthcare reform, minimum medical-loss ratios would be established, thus decreasing the insurance companies profit off of disease and disability. Sure, this will take awhi...

Making more tracks than necessary, some in the wrong direction. Monday, July 19, 2010. There are very few things in my life that I get to see through to completion. I see patients come and then leave (in better shape than when they arrived), yes. But let's face it - closure is really hard to come by in my line of business. So, I've been experimenting with different "hobbies" if you will, to see what keeps my attention and what doesn't. You got it - nothing. I'll let you know how it goes! Sleeping By the ...

Making more tracks than necessary, some in the wrong direction. Sunday, August 22, 2010. Meet me at the fair! Today is the big day! Waking early, I rolled out my beautiful dough, sliced apples carefully, measured meticulously and assembled my fifth and final (2010) pie. I surprised myself when I woke with a smile on my face and butterflies in my stomach (silly! The good news is we arrived safe and sound! With plenty of time to spare! I felt curious about how people would be acting in line - competitive?

Making more tracks than necessary, some in the wrong direction. Friday, February 5, 2010. Some nights I am inspired to cook. And, yes, it takes inspiration (which is more than a growling stomach). Tonight, I was not inspired but I had to make a dessert for work. Living in Minnesota, I have found, requires you to prepare things for potlucks every now and then. I think it is time for Plan B. I'm calling in sick. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Girls Are Not For Sale. Sleeping By the Mississippi.

Life in the Vast Lane: our little football fan
http://skaffs.blogspot.com/2011/10/our-little-football-fan.html
Wednesday, October 5, 2011. Our little football fan. Ella got her first taste of live football last weekend! It was an absolutely beautiful day, just a little windy. My company sponsors NDSU athletics, and we tailgate at all the home football games. Saturday was homecoming, and we couldn't find anyone to watch Ella - so we just brought her with! She lasted until about half way through the third quarter and then she was ready to go home; we'd barely left the parking lot and she was asleep.

GREG AND NICOLE'S (AND SIMONE'S! Thursday, June 10, 2010. Simone is 7 months old.REALLY? I can't even believe it. Yes, I'm way behind on posting, and there's lots to catch up on. My little goofball. I hate to say it, but she's turning into a little drama queen already- ha! So, here she is in her "baby poker table." It's a new toy that we got her, and she loves it. She runs round and round the table. In this pic, she's playing with her pop-up ball machine, which she also loves. Baby poker table again.

Wednesday, May 19, 2010. I can't hardly believe it, but my niece Krispen turned two on May 12th! We all went down to Excelsior this past weekend and had a little birthday party for her. She definitely got the idea that the party was for her - and that the presents were all for her! She just went from one bag to the next, pulling each item out, looking at it, and moving on to the next! It was stinking hilarious! Here's a few photos:. Thursday, May 13, 2010. The Upper Cove: We Shall Remain
http://uppercove.blogspot.com/2010/05/we-shall-remain.html
Tuesday, May 11, 2010. There are a lot of things I'm not really interested in. Dolphins, manatees, and marine life in general. Military history. Cars. Most sports. Some people (true confession! I've never been that interested in Native American history until, well, I guess about 4 years ago, when Ben and I started reading a few books on the history of Minnesota and came across some really riveting accounts of the contact and conflict between White settlers and the Native Peoples of the Dakota territories.

Life in the Vast Lane: socks
http://skaffs.blogspot.com/2011/08/socks.html
Wednesday, August 31, 2011. Yesterday was a little rainy and a little cool, and Ella has been fighting a cough. So good mother that I am, I decided she needed to wear socks. Ella hasn't worn socks since May - meaning half her life has now gone by without them. So when I put them on her last night to go out for pizza with Nate's grandma, they were a completely new thing to her! They were like a brand new toy. September 26, 2011 at 4:29 PM. Thursday, January 28, 2010. Lately I have been more interested in reading other people's blogs than writing my own blog. I sometimes get so caught up in admiring others creativity that its hard for me to be creative myself. As I mentioned, my little brother was recently home on leave from Iraq. I was talking to him last week (when he surprised me with a phone call on my birthday! Years ago. He's anxious to get home and get back to his life. And yet, his life has not. I find this to be a good reminder for...

GREG AND NICOLE'S (AND SIMONE'S! Sunday, January 30, 2011. Simone's First Sledding Experience! These pics were taken back at the end of November, but here is Simone's first time sledding! She was less-than-thrilled most of the time, due to hardly being able to move in her snow outfit, but she was definitely interested in what was going on. I think she thought the whole thing was just bizarre. Enjoy! Simone watching Daddy make snow angels! Where Did Christmas Go? I had my 4 month check-up with my oncologi...
