Chickens and mealie meal, dry beans, cold drinks, cabbage, a suitable semi-reliable transport truck, instructions on behavior, note-taking, packing lists and laundry, crayons, plans. So many things to keep track of, so many people to put trust in. Fingers crossed. The result unseen, unknown, even still, maybe forever. Educational tours are no small endeavor in this setting. Friday, July 10, 2009. Listen, Learn, Let go. 11 months ago I let go of my life in the US and arrived in Zambia. In one week I will let go of my life in Zambia, and arrive in Philadelphia. In the beginning I learned to let go of family and friends, culture, food, efficiency. Somehow that was all ok. Then I let go of my identity as I thought I knew it, and my sense of place in the world. Harder. And here I am. One week remaining. Friday, September 26, 2008. Madame Mutinta, Basisi in Training. I, Mutinta, am both. I may be Ashley to you, but my new titles have range. I used to just be the mukuwa (which I just found out means "white". They were amazed to savor the tasty M&Ms one by one. Connecting to the students has been a process but its slowly happening as they reciprocally teach me new things every day. But it's also been wonderful to connect with the teachers who live nearby. And now I even have friends! How is the morning?

Or there and back again. It is an American tradition. Go big or go home. . Katie, and a surprise guest, Elizabeth. We spoke French most of the night and I was glad that the family could meet my friends. We all had a good time and I believe we really appreciated everyone’s company of the mix between the French and the Americans. . Elizabeth leaves on Tuesday for the south of France and then cousin Katy will be visiting! Then two more weeks and I am home! It has gone by way to fast. 12 franny and zooey.

I realize it has been a while since i have written a real entry, but with a combination of nothing really happening/blog complications/laziness, I have finally managed the courage to write again. 2 It has gotten really cold here. I got into photography about two years ago. After that I’ve been trying to learn as much as I can about it. Editing is my favorite part. My very first picture I edited was one of Joel Madden that I took at a Good Charlotte concert. I fell in love with photography after that and bought a canon rebel XTi which is what I'm currently using. I like to photograph everything from seniors to equine and more.
