Special Ed Summer Project. May 10th, 2009. In my long term sub job as SpecEd teacher I've put together some summer projects for two of my Kindergarten kids with austism. This is actually good for any child ready to enter into Kindergarten, though. One in particular is not neccesarily just for kids with autism. Almost everyone has Excel nowadays and almost all versions can be configured to speak. If your kiddo can type, then they can practice high frequency words on Excel. Powered by LiveJournal.com.

I want to be a special ed teacher but my life hit a couple bumps in the past few years so my education has been put on hold. While I'm putting my life back together, I'd like to continue learning about the art of teaching. What are some good books to read? What subjects would be good for me to look into? A bump on the log of life. April 5th, 2009. I preached my first sermon ever today twice. The parish where I am placed has two regular Sunday morning services, the main difference being the absence of hymns in the earlier one. I preached essentially the same sermon at both, and have had mostly positive responses to them. I’m expected to preach at least four more times this year (three more in the parish, one in class). Lately I’ve been really irritated by people coming in the classroom and carrying on in a way they’d never do in a mainstream class. I’ve got people walking in and sending and receiving cell phone calls in the middle of instruction time, people walking in to talk to one of my students without even so much as an excuse me to me or the class, and folks in general who seem to feel that in special ed , normal classroom courtesy doesn’t apply.
