Just a thought on. Whats this one about? April 28, 2016. Here is how many messages started post the Publicis announcement. ‘Wow some big changes down at Publicis! Hope everything is OK? 8217; Interesting that people start with concern, lovely as that is, it gets me thinking about change and how it is perceived. We hope that for our advertisers this becomes an exciting opportunity. My own role is changing and we are excited about the fact that we are creating a single Publics performance operation, Perfor...

January 12, 2015. October 22, 2014. Because they...

Just a thought on. Whats this one about? BertozziBytesize: Straight talk is the missing link. May 25, 2016. It was a credit to the Festival organisers that we had nearly 40 advertisers in the room and no other adtech or agency people. Thank God because I was not kind to some of the other players in the ecosystem, although I believe fair. Since the event I have received some feedback that they enjoyed the discussion, at least some of them! But I still have not got to the point! The rest can go on email!

Just a thought on. Whats this one about? Will media owners and tech vendors be scrutinised by procurement? June 11, 2015. June 11, 2015. If the squeeze continues then how can an advertiser be happy that Criteo and Rocketfuel are taking 50 of their IO and turning it into revenue for themselves (published numbers). Is the only answer to that ‘they are not an agency of record? 8217; If you can squeeze a percentage point out of an agency, how about 10 from the people your dollars eventually end up with?

Just a thought on. Whats this one about? Ryder Cup of programmatic – my review of US vs Europe programmatic. March 30, 2015. First published in The Drum – click here. Back in 2010 when I started the European arm of VivaKi’s Audience On Demand, I had to turn to the US for everything. Half the companies I dealt with at the time had to turn to their data centres in the US just to make a bid, something that today would be impossible to imagine. Frustrating. So often the opinion was based on scale, not so...

Just a thought on. Whats this one about? Adblocking -please advertise responsibly. March 3, 2016. Ad-blocking, is now in its next chapter. The converted network in the form of Three is going to banish ads en masse. We have lived through a number of chapters in this story, we are reading fast because it is such a page-turner and on a panel a week or so ago I was asked a number of good questions. Let’s start with the advertisers, why are they not up in arms on this topic? One thing we could all do is not a...

Just a thought on. Whats this one about? When the last planner leaves the building, please turn off the light. June 4, 2016. June 7, 2016. Our industry is small, relatively speaking. There are three, maybe four parts to it. Agencies, Advertisers, Media Owners (in all their shapes and forms) and technology companies. I have no idea how many people in reality, hundreds of thousands globally let’s say. Have you seen the make up of those agencies? Why would anyone want to work in agencies? November 30, 2015.
