Strides: October 2009
http://mystrides.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Moving from enduring to embracing. Thursday, October 29, 2009. Back to the Early Days. Woke up late yesterday and wasn't able to get my Wednesday run in. Instead, I ran today, and I will run again tomorrow. This will still give me a day off from running before Springfield, since I will not be running the Tulsa Run this weekend, just a day before the Bass Pro Shops Marathon. Challenge. I have endured. Except maybe running 50 miles. Distance: 4.13 miles. Avg Mile Pace: 8:49. Links to this post. Great idea ...

Strides: September 2009
http://mystrides.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
Moving from enduring to embracing. Tuesday, September 29, 2009. I was out of town last week, so I have some catching up to do today. Last week's runs were pretty standard runs, although I was running without my MP3 player. My (second) Sansa Clip finally quit working for good the weekend of the 18th. I was in Houston last WednesdayFriday, so I ran 5ish miles in the vicinity of the hotel without getting lost, so I'm now 2 for 3. Distance: 6.06 miles. Avg Mile Pace: 8:13. Distance: 20.12 miles. I contemplat...

Strides: Saturday's Run: A Reminder that the Earth is Still Spinning...Fast
http://mystrides.blogspot.com/2010/03/saturdays-run-reminder-that-earth-is.html
Moving from enduring to embracing. Monday, March 29, 2010. Saturday's Run: A Reminder that the Earth is Still Spinning.Fast. My hope Friday night as I went to bed was that the wind would calm overnight. I think the opposite was the case. I knew I was in trouble Saturday morning when I awoke and I could hear the wind chimes dinging and our neighbor's flag pole clanging in their front yard. Path, not the bike. Extrapolated, I would not have made a full 26.2 in under 4 hours, a fact that concerned me ve...

Strides: May 2010
http://mystrides.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Moving from enduring to embracing. Thursday, May 20, 2010. I was originally going to entitle this blog post, "Wet Runs," in light of the recent weather, but I thought better of it. Yesterday, I had a great, relatively slow 8-miler. I missed this morning (my third Thursday in a row to miss). I can't post any stats below because bimactive.com seems to be having problems this morning (I think they have been since this past Saturday). My next race will be in October. I'm still waiting to hear about atten...

Strides: December 2009
http://mystrides.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Moving from enduring to embracing. Monday, December 14, 2009. A Few Firsts at the Las Vegas Rock n' Roll Marathon. With this being my first time to visit Sin City, it seemed appropriate that I experience a few "Firsts" at the Las Vegas Rock n' Roll Marathon on December 6. Realizing the folly of my mode of travel on the way out, I took a cab back to the Paris. Sunday morning, I took the monorail to the MGM Grand, which put me much closer to the Mandalay. Monorail: another marathon travel first. At mile 9,...

Strides: June 2009
http://mystrides.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Moving from enduring to embracing. Wednesday, June 24, 2009. It was nice to run without thinking about pace, and despite having awakened at 2:45 this morning and tossing and turning for about an hour, I still felt pretty good. It was a few degrees cooler this morning which was also nice. And that's pretty much the extent of today's run. Avg Mile Pace: 8.33. Links to this post. Monday, June 22, 2009. Back with the Group. For a 4-hour marathon, I may end up much better than I did at OKC. Avg Mile Pace: 8:24.

Strides: February 2010
http://mystrides.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Moving from enduring to embracing. Monday, February 22, 2010. A Tough Reminder and a New Experience. Saturday's 18-miler served as a tough reminder of my first marathon last year in Oklahoma City. Those who know me know that it was not a great marathon experience. The run took me over 5 hours to complete. It was, to say the least, frustrating. The reason: I went out too fast. Wear (especially in the winter), but forwent this morning in order to experiment with what seems to be a clothing norm among Runne...

What Are You Lookin' At?: 3 marathons - 3 toenails
http://carmelitapope.blogspot.com/2009/05/3-marathons-3-toenails.html
What Are You Lookin' At? Wednesday, May 6, 2009. 3 marathons - 3 toenails. I've previously lost the middle right one twice, and the one to the right of it fell off last night. I'm definitely getting the shirt that reads "Toenails are overrated.". This post needs a picture. May 6, 2009 at 8:47 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Join Me On Facebook! What Are You Lookin' At?: Big-time scare with a happy ending
http://carmelitapope.blogspot.com/2009/08/big-time-scare-with-happy-ending.html
What Are You Lookin' At? Monday, August 3, 2009. Big-time scare with a happy ending. Mom called me this evening and asked in a shaky voice if I had spoken with GE. Someone had found his phone lying on the trail between Garnett and 129th and called "Mom's cell" to let her know. Your mind goes through all sorts of scary scenarios when something like this happens. GE is unharmed, he has his lifeline back, and my mom went home to take a hot bath and Tylenol PM. Needless to say, she was beside herself. Glad h...
