Posted on 2015.04.04. 이곳에서의 마지막 책이 되었다. 어제까진 그저 '끝'만을 기억하고 고대하면서 달려왔는데. 막상 끝이 되고보니, 마음이 너무 이상해. 자꾸만 울컥울컥 눈물이 나려고 하고. 오늘 점심엔, G사를 아주 오래 다니신 부장님과 밥을 먹었다. 보통 첫 책이 잘 되면, 편집자와 저자와 관계가 예전만큼 못 해요. 저자는 '다른 출판사에서 연락오는데 어떡하지? 하며 우쭐해지기가 쉽고, 편집자도 '내가 이만큼 키웠는데' 하는 마음을 갖죠. 온갖 애증과 집착 때문에 틀어지는 경우가 다반사예요.". 소장님과 나와의 관계가, 서로 조심하고 서로 배려하는 건강한 관계라서. 정말 그것이야말로 너무 기적같은 일이다. 나만 노력한다고 해서 될 일도 아니니까. 마지막까지 최선을 다하고 싶고. 잠이 오지 않는 밤.

Posted on 2015.02.11. 그리고 이번 여행에서 마지막으로 하고 싶었던 일을 하러 가는 날이었다. 베를린에 온 이유는 딱 두 가지였는데, 하나는 노이에바헤 어제 다녀온 그곳. 그리고 다른 하나는 바로 베를린 장벽을 보러 가는 일. 89년 베를린 장벽이 무너졌던 날이 공교롭게도 11월 9일, 바로 내 생일이었다. 베를린 장벽 앞에서 홀로 보내는 생일은 얼마나 근사할까. 독일로 건너오면서 내내 생각했던 부분이다. 아침 일찍 베를린 이스트사이드 갤러리에 갔다. 지금 그 무너진 장벽은 그대로 보존하되, 세계 각국에서 와 장벽에 벽화를 그렸다. 그 벽화를 보며 걷는 아침산책은 정말 더할 나위 없었다. 한국의 모습을 그린 벽화도 있었다. 유럽에서 다리를 건널 때 흔히 볼 수 있는 모습.

Posted on 2015.04.01. 종로3가엔 크고 작은 귀금속 가게가 천 개쯤 있단다. 살면서 귀금속에 크게 관심 두지 않았기에. 다행히 두 부모님이 흔쾌히 허락해주신 덕에 예물, 예단도 완전히 생략. 비싸지 않은 커플링 하나만 맞추자 해서 간 종로3가에서. 처음엔 둘 다 얼음. 어떤 가게엘 들어가야 할지도 몰라 벌벌 떨었다. 첫 가게에서 두어 개만 보고 나오려고 했는데. 언니가 어찌나 부드럽게, 그렇지만 결코 놓지 않으려는 뚝심으로. 이 반지, 저 반지를 보여주는지. 난 심플한 아무 반지! 보면 볼수록 처음 생각과 다르게, 좀 더 반짝이는 것, 좀 더 화려한 것, 좀 더 정교한 것을 보게 되더라니까. 그런데 또 신기한 게. 순간 예뻐 보이는 것은 오래 가질 않는다는 것. 당연히 우리 부모님은 물론.
