Specifically, how does the light switch turn the light on and off? Well, electricity travels through the wires inside the walls of the house. Imagine that the wires in the house are a highway, with lots of lanes for the cars to drive on. The cars are the electrons, or the charged particles that make up electricity (they are also the things that shock you).

Monday, January 25, 2010. But I am buried in work. I'm essentially doing 2 jobs at the moment, until I can get the rest of the old documents off my desk. Then I can concentrate on being boss lady (well, middle management, but who's counting). Everything has been both wonderful and hectic at the same time. What do you do when the daylight doesn't end? You drink, of course. And those endless winter nights? How do they get through those? So, we decided that the first tour of our first day in Iceland should be to educate ourselves about, you know, beer. The tour itself was at one of the larger (and oldest) breweries. Well, twist my arm.

Saturday, June 26, 2010. Iceland Adventures, Day 6 - 14 hours on a bus, but so worth it. After a day of rest and relaxation. Our first stop was a rest stop, about an hour or so outside of Reykjavik. This was going to be a long day, so they wanted to give us as many opportunities to pee and eat as possible. Joseph and I picked up some snacks, including a very curious package of bacon flavored crackers. That's right. Crackers. That are. Flavored. Which were next to packs of. But an elegant quieter beauty.

Monday, April 05, 2010. Great Aunt x's 2! JP and Cyn had their little bundle of joy 8 weeks early, last Thursday, April 1. The yet un-named baby girl is 4lbs 7oz and 17 inches long. She'll be in the NICU for a little while, but according to Cyn she's doing well. Just by happenstance, I'll be going up to Boston for a meeting on Thursday, and will be there the week. I was going to bring the Peanut. So now, the current count: I have 4 nephews, 2 nieces (plus 1 by marriage) and 2 great-nieces. The Ones I Love.
