August 28, 2015. So I’ll be brutally honest, the 14th and 15th of July were not the most exciting. Of course, for me they were amazing simply because I was in Zimbabwe! But reading back over them now I’m struggling to see how they’ll be interesting to read but I will try my best! And at the end of the day, if I hadn’t have experienced these days I wouldn’t know what it’s really like to be a missionary in Africa! I didn’t take any photos on these days so here are some random ones! Then in the evening we h...

And Zimbabwe must be saved. July 20, 2015. So Sunday the 6th of July 2014 went something like this:. Church started at 9:45. Actually scratch that – Church was supposed to start at 9:45 but really it started at about quarter past. So I guess it’s good to now that my home Church isn’t the only one who has people strolling in half an hour late! It’s also become really clear, really quickly, how much more important family is here – which makes sense really I suppose: family is valued more when t...Once we g...

4 babies, 3 kombis, 2 dirty trainers and 1 wedding proposal. July 28, 2015. We went to Moses Basket which is a home for babies who have been abandoned or whose parent’s can’t look after them. The home is ran by a couple whose daughter I used to be pen pals with when I was about 8! I finally managed to get a photo of the flats and market – but not a very good one! And Zimbabwe must be saved. Middot; July 29, 2015. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Address never made public). It's a...

September 11, 2015. So here’s what happened on the 13th of July – the day I managed to completely miss out! Nana wasn’t feeling very well in the morning, so me and Chris headed to Church and set up for Sunday School. As Chris left to be on the welcome team, I was assisted by a 9-year-old girl whose name I won’t use. She told me all about her school and I then told her all about mine. Perspective. 8217; to things like ‘have you met the Queen of England? After Church, the young people got out a popcorn mac...

Marina! | tatendajesu

September 4, 2015. So on the 16th of July Marina joined us! Marina arrived in the morning which was super exciting as we were finally altogether in Zim after years of dreaming about it and looking forward to it! In the afternoon we went to Doon Estate which is a little bit like a Zimbabwean Fosse Park (for you Leicester folk) – but obviously sooo much cooler! And I got to go in with the rucksack on which made the shop attendant super proud to know their product was being modelled around the UK! You are c...

365 days earlier…. June 30, 2015. Okay, so technically it’s 369 days ago but that doesn’t make half as good a title! So this is a slightly edited version of my journal entry from the 4th of July 2014:. But I was wrong. As we were landing in Harare at about 8.50am I really got a glimpse of how amazing and creative my God is. Something about the lonely-looking trees on the dry, yellowed grass and the endless rows of tin-roofed huts astounded me. Somehow this vast poverty seemed so rich in beauty. And belie...

Spot the white man | tatendajesu

Spot the white man. August 21, 2015. During our game, Tinashe took me to an underground games room which contained a lot of pool tables and some video games that are almost definitely older than the men spending their wages on them. This was probably one of the scariest moments I faced because not only was I the only white person but the male to female ratio became about 100:1 when I entered to room. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Women & Wildlife | tatendajesu

August 4, 2015. 9th of July 2014:. This morning we went to a women’s discipleship course. Basically it’s a weekly meeting where Christian women can further their knowledge and relationship with God. This week the meeting was at one of the member’s home. We walked through the front gate and the house was beautiful! The meeting taught me lots about the culture and lives that Shona women live – and how impossible their language is to learn! In the afternoon we got a Kombi to Mukuvisi Woodland. You are comme...
