Kale salad | Writing Me Home

Be joyful because it is humanly possible. Wendell Berry. Asymp; 6 Comments. This is a story of how I like to beat myself up. Even when I’m doing something good. It’s the story of how I blame other people when I get frustrated. It’s the story of how I like to think of myself as a risk-taker, but really I’m just scared shitless most of the time. It’s the story of how I made kale salad for lunch. Use a recipe and when I do, I want to follow it exactly. Like, last week I was putting something in the slow coo...

Day to Day Life of a Very Lazy Gardener: Good Insulation!
http://whitelees.blogspot.com/2015/01/good-insulation.html
Day to Day Life of a Very Lazy Gardener. Notes from my garden with a bit of other stuff thrown in. Friday, January 30, 2015. We had snow last night. This afternoon when coming back from work we were delighted to see so much snow still on the roof. Having looked out the window this morning, we still have loads of snow up there. This means - we have the right amount of insulation! I love living here. The few snowy days that we get remind me that we are very very fortunate! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

A Slice of Life: February 2006
http://susanivory.blogspot.com/2006_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 27, 2006. You may be shocked to find out that I’m a little on theumshall we say frugal side. (Of course Shaun insists on using such crude language that he actually calls me cheap! So, when I find out about a good deal, I’m all over it. So I looked up the name that he gave me. Could this possibly be too good to be true? These instruments cost less than the rental payment I was making on the ones the girls use now. Oh, I was tempted, yetsomething (common sense? What are you, NUTS? Just in ...

THE DUST WILL WAIT: April 2013
http://thedustwillwait.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 09, 2013. When I left the house the other morning to head West on a 4 hour drive that takes me through the gorge, I wasn't expecting the fierce wind. Teach me to check the weather report through the Columbia Gorge. When I joined the trucks and cars on I-84, I feared we would all become bumper cars. Put the men's room on the prevailing wind side. Spring and I are home. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Southeastern Washington, United States. View my complete profile. To see my other awards .

THE DUST WILL WAIT: January 2013
http://thedustwillwait.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 01, 2013. The years keep rolling. The 60’s, The 70’s, The 80’s, the 90’s. Doesn’t it seem that Y2K was just last year? Hey, what did we call the decade ending in 2010? My daddy might have said “Twenty aught one, Twenty aught two.). If you are reading this you survived the 2012 apocalypse. Now, what do we call the next seven years? What I thought it would be. I am disappointed in planes, trains, and automobiles. I am in awe of computer technology and medical science. To see my other award...

Sunday, December 29, 2013. We took some grandchildren to see FROZEN and now we know who to blame for this. Wednesday, December 18, 2013. This afternoon my husband transferred a couple of videos from his phone. One of them was from a late summer walk along the creek. The water flowing over the diversion was catching the golden rays from the setting sun. Sunset Sparkling on the Diversion Dam. Friday, December 13, 2013. It never made friends in OUR environment for several reasons:. So, Merry Christmas to me.

Day to Day Life of a Very Lazy Gardener: February 2014

Day to Day Life of a Very Lazy Gardener. Notes from my garden with a bit of other stuff thrown in. Wednesday, February 12, 2014. One of my mothers best friends died decades ago in the early 1980's. I wasn't living at home when she finally left this world. I was in California going through the final months of a really rotten marriage and wasn't anywhere near my family. Sister Sarah had a hand written. Reply to her letter. It was a bit bland and may not have been written by the child star but it was a ...

Day to Day Life of a Very Lazy Gardener. Notes from my garden with a bit of other stuff thrown in. Wednesday, April 22, 2015. Right after the first time we cut the grass this spring, we had snow. My initial reaction was disbelief. Then I realised that it is spring. This happens. It's rubbish, but it happens. Now I've cut the grass two more times. Nothing harsher than a spring frost since. Yesterday and today have been a delight as I spend time in the garden. Zebra spider (a jumping spider). On morning di...
