manipulativeappropriation: thichnhathahn
http://asloropoesia.blogspot.com/2010/04/thichnhathahn.html
Last semester, while reading czesław miłosz, i came across a beautiful excerpt of writing by the buddhist monk and poet; the passage discussed the theory of interbeing. I have read it in the clip below. This image contains the poem i generated using thich nhat hahn's interbeing as my source text. The following clip contains my reading of my poem.

manipulativeappropriation: write399finalproject
http://asloropoesia.blogspot.com/2010/04/write399finalproject.html
For my final project, i decided to begin a project of mass appropriation and manipulation. I have chosen four writers to use as my inspiration: bpNichol, thich nhat hahn, david littlejohns and warren bowen. Hopefully there will be more in the future.

My final project from last year. David, a close friend of mine from calgary, is a talented artist. I thought this would be an excellent opportunity for collaboration; and, for this following piece, i used an excerpt from one of his essays. the left image details the process i took the essay through which included a combination of erasure, babel fish translations and a travesty generator. The second image is entitled self-centred. Done in the style of derek beaulieu's flatland:. This is the final poem.

What did you miss? Ninooka jinja by warren bowen. Two am My bike faithfully glides through the gentle trickle of snow. The only sounds are creaking pedals, my breathing, and my nose corralling its runaway snot with sharp intakes of cold air. Bamboo lines the deserted road on either side: fasting monks whose intentionally thin frames divulge the quiet beauty of patient consumption. Leaves dance without wind as the moist snow plays on their green. Purified, I stand in front of the shrine. I close my eye...

What did you miss? A clockwork organ by warren bowen. No, it seemed to Orson that his pelvic problem was more of a pink elephant response. That is, in trying not to do the one thing he didnʼt want his body to do, he was subconsciously forcing his body to do it. He likened his theory to such anecdotal hiccup remedies as “think ʻhiccup! All this meant little to Orson except a frustrating hint towards psychological phenomenon, which was quickly amounting to an investigation in undergraduate psychology progr...
