Sweet tea, biscuits and public health. This entry was posted on June 20, 2012. Bookmark the permalink. I’m not officially moving to North Carolina for two more months, but I can’t help but keep track of the ‘lasts’ that are coming up in New York. On June 11th I bought my last monthly unlimited metro card. A staple of all NYC professionals, I’ll miss the little yellow card that can take me anywhere with enough time and patience. I will not, however, miss its $104 price tag. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Sweet tea, biscuits and public health. Like molasses in january. This entry was posted on May 23, 2012. Bookmark the permalink. I finally signed my lease! This apartment process was clearly my first lesson in the differences between New York and North Carolina. I saw the apartment April 27th, turned in an application April 28th and here we are on May 23rd and I’ve just received, signed and returned my lease for the place. Is it me or is that incredibly slow? The anxious New Yorker in me has.

Sweet tea, biscuits and public health. This entry was posted on May 2, 2012. Bookmark the permalink. Things are moving quickly these days. I visited UNC-Chapel Hill at the end of March, decided I would attend a few days later, went back this past weekend to apartment hunt and got a call that my application for a place was approved this morning. My lease starts July 15th and I am officially on my way to North Carolina residency. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Blog updates via email.

I eat miles for breakfast: August 2012
http://ieatmilesforbreakfast.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
I eat miles for breakfast. Monday, August 20, 2012. Prelude to 140.6. Slow down. Grab the sports drink. Rack it. Grab the water, refill the Jetstream. Grab another bottle? Do I need a spare? I took my time out there, visualizing the race. I didn't get back home to Brooklyn until 3p or so, skewing my plans to clean and unpack a bit. This was it. Race week. And I had two big priorities- get the race done and figure out what to do with my parents. How did it become Thursday night already? I woke up and show...

I eat miles for breakfast. Friday, November 29, 2013. Summer 2013 Megafuntastical: The Red Hook Marathon. So I did a marathon over the summer. Of swimming. In Red Hook. For a t-shirt. Here is the third and final post in the series I like to call Summer 2013 Megafuntastical. New York City Aquatics has been operating their outdoor pool adult lap swim summer program. Participants who swim 25 miles or more over the summer will receive a free t-shirt.". So the quest for the Night Owl T-Shirt began. It's hilar...

I eat miles for breakfast. Monday, October 14, 2013. Summer 2013 Megafuntastical: Berkshires Tres Veces. I've been absent from this blog because of a summer that has been just too much fun. Now well into autumn, it is time to catch up a bit. Here is the first post in the series I like to call Summer 2013 Megafuntastical. Memorial Day Weekend came and after months of preparation, on the road, in the trails, and on a few excel spreadsheets, the team headed for the hills of Berkshires. The terrain was rough...

I eat miles for breakfast. Sunday, December 23, 2012. What's on the calendar? What's in the pipeline? When asked of a runner by a runner, the subject is obvious: the next event. I ask this often of my running friends and I've been asked this quite a few times since finishing the Ironman. Where does one go from there? The Team trotted with me around Prospect Park. This will be a fun event and I'm looking forward to it. Is this the next big thing for me? Well, I guess not. And a search for my mid-sole.

I eat miles for breakfast. Saturday, May 30, 2015. Comrades - Ultra Fun Runs. Amanda and I did a course bus tour today, learned about the history of Comrades, saw all the hills firsthand (it's basically all hills), had an emotional visit children of the Ethembeni School. Ethembeni School Children are about to perform. When do I know that it's ok to go? I mean, at what point do I feel confident enough to lay it all out? Putnam Road and GTS Brooklyn. Putnam Road passed Rynex Corners and back. You've seen t...

I eat miles for breakfast. Sunday, September 2, 2012. Ironman US Campionship 8:04:46. By the time I started running, the winner was less than a mile away from the finish. It was a long race and this is a long blog entry. Thanks for sticking with it. Kait caught me leaving the transition area. Did I mention I was psyched? And two volunteers would help pour water into my bottle. Would you like some ice? I wasn't stopping at each aid station, because I had that trusty water bottle. I learned the hard way.

I eat miles for breakfast. Tuesday, March 27, 2012. Poll: Sunglasses make be look like a badass or a big dork? I'm ok with either. Well, it was easy. All you have to do is relax. I'm getting better at doing just that. DUGWBOBP (down under george washington bridge on bike path)- I hear it's the next up-and-coming-neighborhood. But back to Sunday before the fear set in. It was a glorious day for a bike ride, though the threat of rain made me second and third guess my gear (jacket or no? My breathing every ...

I eat miles for breakfast. Thursday, April 19, 2012. Travel and Ironman training don't mix very well. By the end of my 17 day stretch on the road, I was freaking out about falling behind. Saturday, March 31st. Quite a bit. I made my way to the town center, which afforded a 2 mile stretch of relatively flat terrain and did a few out and backs there to finish off my run. At the end of the coastal path. My hotel is on the left. Sunday, April 1st. I return from my failed 10 minute outing, goggles in hand.

I eat miles for breakfast. Monday, May 7, 2012. I have self diagnosed turf toe. Google says it'll be a pain for 2-3 weeks plus rehab. Luckily it doesn't hurt when I ride. So I ride. Or at least, that was the plan. I've had a rough week. Regardless, things happened. And here's a sampling. That's the Tappan Zee Bridge. Yup, I rode that far, and back. She called me out. I guess I'm pulling to one side when I swim and she's worried that I'll veer off and hit a boat or something while I'm in the Hudson...

A Southern Celiac | Invisibly ill, and visibly annoyed.
Invisibly ill, and visibly annoyed. Happy Birthday to the best Cat Dad! Today is a very special day. It’s my husband’s 21st birthday! I would write about how awesome the present I got him is and how surprised he was, but he opened it almost two weeks early when he got into the amazon box before I realized what he was doing. On the plus side, he got a ton of use out of his present already, so it’s safe to say that I did okay picking it out! Aren’t they cute? As for the cats? So happy birthday, J! When you...

Once we removed the windshield, it was time to pull the dash. We debated whether or not to pull the dash, but since we’re doing so much work on the wiring, the instrument cluster, etc., plus the fact that the dash is 100 percent metal and rusted in spots, it just made sense to go ahead and remove it. 30 June, 2013. Southern Charm
Thursday, December 9, 2010. On a more serious note-PREGNANCY and BIRTH-. So I know there are other funny and crazy things that have happened between Easter Sunday and present but my brain is overwhelmed with thoughts of my experience the past 5 days, and I can't think of anything else really. Hahah So I took about a 45 minute nap- yes, contractions and all, and then pushed for about 20 more minutes with forceps and out came my tiny monkey! The whole 20 hour process was a lot to handle! This means no walk...

Friday, December 16, 2016. I hope everyone is enjoying this holiday season! I truly have slept and ate the last five months away! As you can see or hopefully tell, I'm going to be a mommy! God has given me the greatest gift this season, I could never ask for anything more. I'm just over five months and feel I couldn't keep this to myself any longer lol. I've know since I've been five weeks, so it feels like I've been pregnant forever! Praying you all have a safe and Happy Holidays. They have pockets and ...
