A Southern Eden: August 2012
http://asoutherneden.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
Just an amateur gardener in central Alabama figuring it all out as I go along. Friday, August 3, 2012. In the Garden 08/03/12. The garden is loving this rain we’ve been getting. It’s just been a shower here and there, but it’s been enough to really perk up the brown grass and droopy flower heads. ‘Lady Georgia’ has managed to push out a few more blooms for me, if only for one day. I guess when you have 9 kids and no money you figure things out. Hope this post finds you well and happy. 9830;Dwarf Global J...

http://asoutherneden.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
Just an amateur gardener in central Alabama figuring it all out as I go along. Tuesday, October 30, 2012. Halloween is Upon Us! Recently I made a pact with myself to spend more time enjoying the holidays, all holidays, not just the big ones. With Halloween just around the corner, I thought it would be nice to put a theme to this month’s supper club. I’ve never really been one to appreciate all the “cute-sie” decorations so this is my version of a Halloween dinner. Pear and Roasted Pecan Coleslaw. It was ...

Just an amateur gardener in central Alabama figuring it all out as I go along. Tuesday, May 29, 2012. Marie Selby Botanical Gardens. The tree in the very center of this photo is actually a Brugmansia! I had no idea they could actually get so large. Wow. The ducks and coy seemed to get along with no problems at all in this pond. They went about their way paying no attention to each other. I love this shot of the mermaid. Monday, May 7, 2012. It also looks like a most of my irises aren’t even going t...

Gardening in East Tennessee. Gardendate: January 2015 →. Progress As The Curtain Drops on 2014. December 14, 2014. Things have been moving ever onward here at the newly relocated Fairegarden. Fall veggies have progressed nicely in the cold frame. The row of pine trees belongs to us and they mark the property boundary with the fenced yards of the subdivision next door. We love the privacy and wildlife refuge they offer. After the offending weed trees were cut, the view was very much improved. I was tickle...

Sunday, November 16, 2014. The miscanthus standing tall a few weeks ago. And the snow didn't beat it down. It still looks fine and feathery. Before I shovel my walks and driveway I brush the snow off the ornamental grasses. I have my priorities. Im glad that you were prepared! Wednesday, June 18, 2014. It looks like Monet just painted my garden. I love this app called "Waterlogue." I'm sure I'll be bored with it soon but for now here are the watercolor renderings followed by the real thing. So if you want to be an artist, apparently there's an app for that! Links to this post. Lost Roses: Hunting for summer
http://lost-roses.blogspot.com/2015/03/hunting-for-summer.html
Thursday, March 12, 2015. I just came back from a Mexico vacation. While I was in Mexico there was snowstorm after snowstorm at home. I felt bad for my neighbors who I knew were taking turns shoveling my walks and driveways while I walked the beach in search of sea glass. I have good neighbors. It called to me. But wait, was I being rash? Do I need another bedspread? Well, of course. Does it look too old lady-ish? Glad that its summer in your bedroom already! Brandi, if it werent for the change of season...
Lost Roses: Antlers?
http://lost-roses.blogspot.com/2014/10/antlers.html
Sunday, October 26, 2014. Every blog I look at is featuring some fall decorating. Mantles are big, so are front porches. I did stick a little pumpkin on my porch thus depriving the squirrels of their usual carnage on the large display of pumpkins and gourds. But I decided that probably wasn't quite enough. Maybe a centerpiece for the table? I rooted around in the storage room and found this stuff. I cut the heads off my red hydrangeas, now a dusty rose. They'd still eat it. And here's what I came up with.

Lost Roses: December 2014
http://lost-roses.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Sunday, December 14, 2014. Signs of snow and Christmas. I like to read decorating blogs to see how out of touch I am. Right now they're all showing their winter mantels. Here's mine. The very summery chaise with its big pink and rose floral design gets a furry shrug for winter. Nice and cozy for TV watching and book reading. Easy to whip off when the warm breezes blow again. Behind that is the hutch with all my seashell stuff. It's year-round too. So I stuck some juniper and spruce branches from ...And m...

A Southerner in the North | A new journey in foreign lands
A Southerner in the North. A new journey in foreign lands. It’s the Most Woeful Time of the Year. If a reindeer lost its tail, where could he get a new one? At a retail store. What name does Santa Claus use when he takes a rest from delivering presents? What is the cow’s holiday greeting? It’s a fun time, it’s an expensive time, it’s a time to put our differences aside and get pissed on mulled wine. If anyone wants to look up to a feminist comic icon then surely she is the best possible choice? Nice and ...
