A Southerner in the North | A new journey in foreign lands
A Southerner in the North. A new journey in foreign lands. It’s the Most Woeful Time of the Year. If a reindeer lost its tail, where could he get a new one? At a retail store. What name does Santa Claus use when he takes a rest from delivering presents? What is the cow’s holiday greeting? It’s a fun time, it’s an expensive time, it’s a time to put our differences aside and get pissed on mulled wine. If anyone wants to look up to a feminist comic icon then surely she is the best possible choice? Nice and ...

A Southerner's Reflections
A southerner's reflections on contemporary issues and constitutional principles with just the right mix of down-to-earth common sense, southern culture and humor. OK, a little sarcasm too. Friday, March 1, 2013. Reflections of a Southerner. People, not positions, have knowledge. Politicians love commissions because it takes the need to make difficult decisions out of their hands. We already have a "debt commission", its Congress. Recently, a local group of civic and educational leaders and elected offici...

A Southerner under the Northern Lights
A Southerner under the Northern Lights. A Southerner transplanted to the Far North stitching under the Northern Lights. Saturday, February 17, 2018. Down for the count. I got back from Chicago where I never made it to Inspired stitches, and promptly got sick! It’s not much but it is a start. On the cross stitch front I have made a lot of progress on my travel piece Six Fat Men by Lizzie Kate. I have 4 completed and 2 left to go. Here are my progress pictures of how my work has gone. That will be the firs...

A Southern Fare
Two Sisters, Two Kitchens, Two Gardens, Two Styles. Sunday, August 5, 2012. The cabinets originally were the typical pecan stained oak of the ‘90s. I decided to put an antique finish on them and attached some bead board on the end to finish off the look. Luckily, I had some primer, white paint and dark stain lying around as well as some bead board that someone was getting rid of so this project cost a whopping $0! So here is how it all went down:. Left is pre-stain and right is after stain is applied.

A Southern Fried Mess
A Southern Fried Mess. Insanity is a southern necessity…. About the crazy lady…. When I was younger, I loved to read. When I was in college, I didn’t have as much time to hit the books but I still harbored my love for them (. Reading the textbooks for class doesn’t count. When I moved out on my own I collected books like crazy and read them with just as much fever. As I moved into married life, it continued on and I made sure to keep a steady stack of books around in case I ever got the urge. I began to ...
