robotexodus: July 2008

Thursday, July 31, 2008. Custom messages using the PortSet. I am not sure whether this is in the tutorials, but I thought I would highlight it anyway. Making custom messages in MRDS is really easy. Also you can pass state information through them. This post should also give you insight into how the request operations on hardware works. So create the message of the structure you want:. Private bool input;. Get { return input; }. Set { input = value; }. Public class NewMessage :. PortSet ReturnType, Fault.

robotexodus: February 2009
http://robotexodus.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, February 25, 2009. It's been a while since I have updated here. Sorry - I am currently working on unofficial PhD work: I have handed in my masters but have not (officially) received a mark. So I can't register for anything - which is good - because that means I can whack out publications. 0 incoming messages (comments). Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). robotexodus: This week in Robotics
http://robotexodus.blogspot.com/2011/05/this-week-in-robotics_28.html
Saturday, May 28, 2011. This week in Robotics. Good day boys and girls - I hope you are ready for another exciting week in robotics! Dinsey is working on swarm robotics - probably just to make them dance around. [REF]. NXT Robots can now be controlled with a smart phone. [REF]. In health news, nanotech is being used to repair heart tissue. [REF]. A real potential and needed area for robotics is in the disaster recovery area. There is a great need for these types of bots. [REF]. It all starts in the libra...

Robot Rights Forum: February 2009
http://robotrightsforum.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Friday, February 20, 2009. Do You Really Want to Hurt Me? With all due respect to Boy George, I consider today whether the type of rights that might be afforded robots are a robot's right to be free from harm. But why should the abuse of a robot concern us? Do robots need rights to keep humans from harming them (a robot Bill of Rights so to speak), or do we need protections to keep robots from harming humans? But what is a man's impetus for wanting to give a machine rights? In fact, there is reason to th...

SBS: Love Me Love My Doll by BBC America. Decided to take break from all the research and stuff and watched this on sbs…as per the title of this entry: Love Me Love My Doll. 8230; an eye opener/shocker i cant quite find the right word…. Here are some bloggers who wrote about the “documentary”. Http:/ dulcedosa.blogspot.com/2007/06/love-me-love-my-doll.html. robotexodus: November 2008
http://robotexodus.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, November 5, 2008. CCR and DSS are now distinct from MRDS. Microsoft have finally separated the CCR and DSS libraries into individual toolkits for applications other than robotics. Check it out [here]. These two libraries are really useful, and I believe they will change the manner in which programmers code. They are extremely powerful. 0 incoming messages (comments). Monday, June 13, 2011. This week in Robotics. The last week has been slow in robotics, again, sorry for the delay :(. Robotic helpers for the disabled: [REF]. It looks like the Mars rover Opportunity is not taking any chances, but is still going strong: [REF]. Robots all over the world are jumping for joy as this little bot only uses one motor to jump. Unfortunately this is due to a shapely design for natural correction, so it's not like every robot can actually jump. [REF]. Labels: This week in robotics.

robotexodus: May 2010
http://robotexodus.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 5, 2010. What kind of problems would you like a robot to solve? I need help. I am trying to brainstorm the types of problems I would like a robot to solve. But here's the kicker: it must be simple yet able to be divided into sub-problems. I need an EXAMPLE, just something that would look cool on a diagram. Here's what I don't. A one step problem like "Do an A* search". A problem that does not have a physical manifestation, like "Solve a theorem". A problem that over-emphasizes the physical.

Saturday, June 4, 2011. This week in Robotics. The robot uprising has not too much in serious news this week. Again, apologies for the delay. Professor Martin Mason wrote an indepth article on how to build a specific kind of robot chassis, bypassing the "middle men" [REF]. Robots used as amusement park rides: [REF]. Clearly juggling robots are in. I have no ide why: [REF]. Rubiks-cube solving robot, what's new? How fast it is. What's not new? How original it is, how helpful it is. [REF]. Programming Micr...
