And the dream went on forever. Tuesday, 10 March 2015. How I came to be an Aspergirl. I recently encountered this interview. In New Scientist with Hannah Belcher who was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome at the age of 23. An unfortunate advertisement at the top of the linked interview reads ' Do You Have These (3) Scary Aspergers Symptoms? There is nothing scary about Asperger symptoms, and I can vouch for that from the perspective of someone who was diagnosed at age 24. Reading through Hannah's blog.

Petite anecdote récente, qui illustre ce précipice entre parler et se faire entendre tout en étant sans conséquences sérieuses. Visite médicale annuelle de l'école, l'infirmière scolaire vérifie entre autres sa vue. Première année, elle fait le contrôle et revient avec une lettre signalant que sa vue est juste acceptable et qu'on devrait penser à faire changer ses lunettes.

Avec le recul, c'est évident, un voile qui se déchire, des pièces de puzzle qui s'emboitent. Des métaphores j'en ai des dizaines. Et alors que je parle d'elle, à moins que je ne passe du temps à les expliquer patiemment à A., elle va me regarder avec les yeux qui roulent version décidément-ma-mère quand elle les entendra, ces métaphores. Et ces temps, c'est un jeu de grand écart en équilibre précaire, la peur à chaque instant que tout s'effondre comme le chateau de cartes que ça semble être. A a conscience de ce qu'on attend d'elle, elle s'efforce de s'intégrer à la norme d'un monde au prix d'efforts de tous les instants. Elle ramène tout intact à la maison et étouffe.

Sans doute le plus grand exercice d'équilibriste que font tous les parents : donner un terreau solide à nos enfants tout en les encourageant à voler de leur propres ailes! Avoir un enfant autiste ne change pas cette réalité, c'est bien le même fil d'acrobate qu'on traverse. A voulait venir, mais voilà les parcs d'attraction c'est un mélange d'attirance et de définition de l'enfer sur terre pour elle....
