看完DSM-5診斷準則的第一個感覺是，診斷整個被放寬了。過去很多模糊空間，被說明的更加清楚，白紙黑字被定義出來，迴旋空間變得較小，能自由心證的地方減少，個人好惡也可以被減到最低。也許這在區辨診斷上是好事，大家都有清楚的準則可遵守，個人可以解釋的空間縮小，「敏感性」與「特異度」也會大幅提高。看完之後，將需要注意之地方，一一說明如下：. 至少要15個標準差以下（或者是標準分數78分以下）。雖然它接受單一分測驗較差也要被考慮進去，但它只接受標準化的成就測驗的結果。它也特別說明在臨床應用上，雖然有可能標準會降低，如一個標準差就可以，但這樣的考量，是要考量個案整體狀態，包含其過去病史。這樣的好處是，就不會有念了資優班的學生，因為在班上是倒數，家長就跑來爭取自己的孩子是學障。關於成就與智能到底要差多少，個人覺得應該回到統計上看待這個問題。 3重新說明何謂「特殊」學習障礙（Specific Learning Disorder）：. 7沒有NOS（Not Otherwise Specified）：.
