A comment on the most interesting (to me) professional astronomical papers posted on astro-ph. Sunday, February 14, 2010. Turbulence in the simulated ICM. Because the latter were determined using mock Chandra data using analysis procedures similar to those used in observations, while the former uses the 3D profiles of gas density and temperature measured directly from raw simulation data, i.e. a more idealized case. A comment on the most interesting (to me) professional astronomical papers posted on astro-ph. Monday, September 21, 2009. Halpha filaments and cold fronts. McDonald and Veilleux showed beautiful images in Halpha and UV of the optical nebulosity in the core of Abell 1795 in their paper. Seems to be favored by the data. The geometry and the similarity of the filaments with magnetic tubes is reminiscent of the recent images of the optical filaments in the core of the Perseus cluster. Examining the metallic...

A comment on the most interesting (to me) professional astronomical papers posted on astro-ph. Tuesday, November 17, 2009. Lopes de Oliveira and collaborators posted an interesting paper. Using Chandra data. I discarded the XMM observation because heavily affected by flares, but Voevodkin et al. Managed to use the data finding with an isothermal beta model analysis tight results and marginally consistent with my large error bars. Interesting papers appeared today:. Investigating BCGs in REXCESS clusters.

April 12, 2012. So we had a rather nice discussion over the recent paper. On LBT observations of HR8799. Seemed a good discussion with mostly a few people who work in the field or closely related fields. If you missed it feel free to comment. And there was a question by @LeonBaloo about resonances which got lost. Any good definitions welcome. Start from the bottom when reading. Matt Burleigh: @nialldeacon thanks for organizing Niall.
