The main aim of this part of my astronomy site is to provide me with a place to host longer articles that generally wouldn’t fit in the main site – it also acts as a place to host copies of some of the longer entries I’ve written in my weblog. For obvious reasons editing of articles is restricted to just me – this isn’t your normal “free for all” wiki. However, the site does allow registered users.

This page contains the results of an on-going personal project to produce a set of constellation. I keep these in an A4. Binder and have them with me when I'm out with my telescope. They serve as useful quick-reference "disposable" charts which I can write and draw on. I offer them for download in the hope that they might be useful to someone else. Please note that there's no real order to the production of the charts (and, in the short to medium term, there will be a Northern Hemisphere.

Morning temperatures can read too high. This is an experimental "SkyCam". The camera is a very cheap USB webcam hooked up to an old Windows XP box – the capture is done using a bit of software I wrote myself. The camera is simply sat on a windowsill pointing out at the sky. The image is captured and stored locally once every 60 seconds and a copy is uploaded here once every 5 minutes. Sorry, the camera is currently offline. The last image was received at 2009-12-19 11:59:18 UT.

A geek and his personal weather station. Catching up, and a crash. Not much has been happening since my last post. Hence the reason I've not posted for some time. The base station of the WS3600 has crashed three times. The latest being today, so this still continues to be a problem. So far I've not had the chance to use it but I aim to correct that pretty soon. I mention this because, earlier this week, I took delivery of yet another extra for the Diana : a flash.
