This trail had wildlife sculptures positioned strategically along it, Collin had a blast photographing everything he could until his memory card filled up. Here are a few samples. South Beach State Park was our base for exploring Newport, this time we decided to see the aquarium again. Collin loved it, especially the seals, sea lions, and otters. It’s a nice little aquarium. But, first on the way we stopped off at the Cape Meares lighthouse where we saw first hand how things are upside down when you look through the center of the Fresnel lens. We also stopped for some impromptu kite flying and an overlook for the Tillamook lighthouse which is inaccessable. Collin and I stacked the smooth flat rocks that were all over the beach as high as we could and then we tried a few other rock stacking challenges too. Well worth the visit in spite of the lack of ruby colored sand, apparently it washes up intermittently.
