Well it has been a long long long time since I last posted on here. I haven't fallen off the face of the earth but things in my life have changed quite a lot. In December last year my dad became extremely sick and was expected to die. He pulled through, but it was a very long recovery process and so that took up a lot of my time. Collecting cosmos plant seeds. I've just finished dead heading all of my cosmos and was trying to collect the seeds. Initially i was cutting the heads off one by one- a very lengthy process. This is one of my pink cosmos. I then decided to cut off larger sections of the plant and put them upside down in a bucket instead. Another drawing for exhibition X. Here is another drawing based on a paper wasp nest that I drew to give me some ideas for my Exhibition X work. The joy of stickers. I took these photos the other week and had forgotten about them. When you go to a speciality exhibition at the Art Gallery of South Australia you get a little colour sticker to say you have paid. I made a tiny little woven basket today out of old scraps of my indigo dyed fabric. Below are photos of the steps I followed. First I cut 1cm wide strips of my fabric (with interfacing for stability) and laid them on a flat piece of paper. I then wove the strips under and over to create the base. So that my base held its stability i then ironed a rectangle of thick interfacing on the back. It could also be stitched if you wanted. I then kept weaving strip after strip around the sides to build up the walls.

Well in a few days time my hubby and I are heading off overseas. We are starting in Singapore and then we're off to India for about 3 1/2 weeks. We are starting up near Delhi and then travelling around to Jaipur, Udaipur and Jodphur. Then head south to Mumbai and aurangabad. Amazing work made using screws. While muddling around on the internet the other day I came across this fantastic artist called Andrew Myers. He works in a whole range of mediums but one of his more intriguing ones is 'Screw's. He does a lot of portraits using screws but the one's below are my favourites.
