A Teacher's Lamentations | Where I come to gripe about my profession
A Teacher's Lamentations. Where I come to gripe about my profession. August 4, 2014. NC Teacher Pay Raise All About Appearances. The NC budget proposal which was sent to the governor Saturday has been touted as historical, and it claims to give teachers in the state their most impressive raise perhaps ever. A first year teacher wi...

A Teacher's Look at the World
A Teacher's Look at the World. Saturday, January 31, 2009. A Teacher’s Hard Truth. When one goes into teaching there is this sense that you can change the world and move mountains. A Month of Sundays
A Month of Sundays. Thursday, October 6, 2011. Sometimes we get paid to do this. This week last year I wrote the following note on my Facebook. In light of this day has rolled around again this year, it bears reposting. Now, I understand the counter-argument here. It goes something like this: “You people can’t budget your pay across 12 months? How can you possibly be trusted to teach our kids? 4 Buy an actual cut of meat from a butcher instead of ground beef / turkey from the supermarket. 6 Go to Target&...
