Wonderings and Learning: What "Feeds" You?
http://wonderingsandlearning.blogspot.com/2008/02/what-feeds-you.html
Tuesday, February 26, 2008. I was reminded last week by my friend, Ann, about being conscious about what it is you do that energizes or "Feeds" you. Sometimes in this profession it is easy to get caught up in what isn't working or how long it is taking to make real change. It is times like this that I need to remember those things that feed me. So, the past few weeks I have been fortunate to have many of these opportunities. 1 I taught a primary reading workshop. So, my question to you is. So what feeds ...

Wonderings and Learning: CLAS Conference Reflections
http://wonderingsandlearning.blogspot.com/2008/03/clas-conference-reflections.html
Tuesday, March 11, 2008. Last Thursday and Friday I had the pleasure of attending the CLAS conference. Here in Denver. On Thursday evening we heard from Ralph Fletcher speaking about Boy Writers. This presentation affirmed some of the things that we are doing in our workshops around this topic. I loved that he used examples from students to emphasize his points. This makes me wonder about the power of using student work and do we need to be doing more of this in our work with teachers? Getting the inside...

Tuesday, March 4, 2008. I am looking forward to my presentation at the CLAS. On Friday. The title of my presentation is Strategies for Reading Electronic Text with 21st Century Learners. I plan to do a bit on Millennial, Digital learners and what that means for education especially around literacy. Wonderings and Learning: May 2008
http://wonderingsandlearning.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html
Monday, May 12, 2008. Attributes of a 21st Century Teacher. I have been participating in a number of events recently that have caused me to reflect on what it means to be a 21st century teacher. The one question that I continue to come back to is. Can an educator be a 21st century teacher if they themselves are not a 21st century learner? If the answer to this is no then what skills, knowledge and behavior does it take to be a 21st century learner? Monday, May 12, 2008. Links to this post. On My Mind Blog.

Wonderings and Learning: Vision of K-12 Students Today
http://wonderingsandlearning.blogspot.com/2008/03/vision-of-k-12-students-today.html
Thursday, March 20, 2008. Vision of K-12 Students Today. I was introduced to this video by a teacher in my district. What do you think about the information posted in this video? How do you help students become successful digital learners at all levels? Thursday, March 20, 2008. The facts that were presented were mind boggling. Facts like 2 hours reading and 5 hours listening to Harry Potter. Is that bad, good, and what does that tell us about how we need to reach our kids? I think a lot of what was prese...

Wonderings and Learning: April 2008

Wednesday, April 16, 2008. Web 20 Site for Today. Scrapblog. Is one of my new favorite sites that I have played around with recently. You can create a video of scrapbooking pages online for free. I wonder how this site could be used for having students create digital stories? What are the possibilities? What literacies do students use to create these types of products? Let me know what ideas you have. Here is a sample that I created just to see how it worked. Wednesday, April 16, 2008. Links to this post.

Wonderings and Learning: Millennials
http://wonderingsandlearning.blogspot.com/2008/03/millennials.html
Sunday, March 2, 2008. This is a quicktime movie of the Millennial slideshow that I have been using with numerous groups of people I am working with. The slideshow has been a great way to discuss the 21st century learner and what it means for teaching and learning. I have posted it here without the usual soundtrack that I use with it. What thoughts do you have about 21st teaching and learning after you watch this movie clip? Sunday, March 02, 2008. Does the digital native theory ignore the digital divide?
