Even before I had arrived in the desert city of Jaisalmer the touts were already jostling for position as we were waking up on the train. Weirdly I had managed to get in a carriage with a slightly older lady who came from Waltham Cross of all places! The train station was a similar affair with a crowd of touts outside all trying to sell you a room.

Sun 27 Nov, 11 09:48 PM. Mon 28 Nov, 11 02:48 AM. I arrived in Jodhpur at 5am and the young guy piloting the auto-rickshaw drove it like he was riding a galloping horse. He would overtake around blind corners on the tight alleyways and jeer with a smile at the drivers we scooted past. I quickly found an excellent guesthouse in an old haveli with massive rooms and a beautiful view of Mehrangarh Fort which towers over the blue city from its rocky outcrop.

It had the Taj Mahal, but other than this there wasn't much else to see and I really wanted to get into Rajastan as soon as possible. The only train available went to Jaipur, so this became my next destination. Where you going today?
