Alice in Average-Land: April 2010
http://aliceinaverageland.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
How Travel Agents Get Their Rocks Off. I never Squee but I feel like squeee-ing because I did it! I booked my flight to Bloggers in Sin City! I had to change my travel dates (I arrive on Wednesday - anyone else be there yet? I also don't leave until Monday night - after the party there's the AFTER party baby) because I'm broke/cheap. I want as much cash for being there as possible and for the extra 2 nights I can stay at my Dad's place down there for free so it just saves me money all around. I'll have t...

Alice in Average-Land: Joy, Green Cards and How Calgary Has Officially Turned into Seattle
http://aliceinaverageland.blogspot.com/2010/05/joy-green-cards-and-how-calgary-has.html
Joy, Green Cards and How Calgary Has Officially Turned into Seattle. I haven't really written anything since Vegas because compared to that, life seems pretty tame these days. It's been raining here for about 8 years straight, I'm not sure when I moved to Seattle but apparently I have. The problem with this is that I only work when it's nice outside so I've worked maybe 6 shifts total in the last 2 week. 6 shifts does not a millionaire make. It would be almost as awesome as my Green Card. The other good ...

Alice in Average-Land: Swearing in Spanish, Art and a "Royal" Wedding
http://aliceinaverageland.blogspot.com/2010/09/swearing-in-spanish-art-and-royal.html
Swearing in Spanish, Art and a "Royal" Wedding. These last few months have been ridiculous. I'm planning my adventures in Central America (I'm even doing a 32 day tour. To get myself acquainted with the culture), trying to get a job in Costa Rica (which apparently they don't do online anymore because too many "gringos" flake out) and hyperventilating over money (do I or don't I have enough? How cheap is "cheap"? And is used where Americans would say fucking, shitty. Etc That f ucking asshole. I bought a ...

Alice in Average-Land: Life Lessons
http://aliceinaverageland.blogspot.com/2010/10/life-lessons.html
My dad and I drove down to Vegas from Calgary this week, with a detour to Yellowstone National Park. It was a long drive but beautiful and we had a really good road trip. My dad made me laugh unintentionally a million times; he reminds me of $#*! For example when he was in the hospital a few months ago, my sisters and I went to visit him around 11 am:. Dad: "I hate it here. They won't let me shower. And I haven't even gotten a paper today". Me: "Want me to run downstairs and grab one for you? Dad: "Don't...

The stars green; the river black: November 2009
http://thestarsgreentheriverblack.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
The stars green; the river black. Sunday, November 8, 2009. The first cake was made for a two year old's birthday. I think it looks so sweet and pretty. It's the ever-popular lemon cake with raspberry preserve and vanilla buttercream. Fondant free! Although honestly, I would have preferred to do this cake in fondant and royal icing instead of buttercream. The piping would have been cleaner and sharper and the background would have been more even. Oh well! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Just a West Coast Girl.

Wednesday, July 22, 2009. This cake was for my little sister's 22nd birthday. She seems eternally 19 to me - perhaps admitting that she is growing older means accepting that I am too. The stars green; the river black: Questions!
http://thestarsgreentheriverblack.blogspot.com/2009/09/questions.html
The stars green; the river black. Tuesday, September 29, 2009. Abhy has entered the much-anticipated "Asking Questions" phase. No Why's yet, but about a billion What Is This? Type questions. Very entertaining! That guy a MAN? By the time we reached our destination, only one man had boarded the bus. And about 20 elderly ladies. Oh Abhy, what a cute little man :).
