To Stroll Through The Fields: The Fairest of the Seasons

http://atbree.blogspot.com/2011/10/fairest-of-seasons.html

To Stroll Through The Fields. Appalachian Trail thru-hiking blog. Monday, October 3, 2011. The Fairest of the Seasons. I’ve been out walking. I don’t do too much talking, these days. Starting, first and foremost with this: Maine kicked my ass. It took me about a month to navigate the final 281 miles of the trail, which, with only two days off, makes my average about 10 miles per day. I spent nearly the entire time in a long, drawn out funk, which was clumsily wrapped up in the following:. It was pretty, ...

To Stroll Through The Fields. Appalachian Trail thru-hiking blog. Tuesday, June 21, 2011. Speaking of bad ideas. Happy summer solstice,  everyone! Monday, June 20, 2011. The last few days have been packed with milestones,  but sadly I have no computer access so I can't show you photos just yet. But don't worry. they're coming. Or, hey, worry all you want. As we say on the trail, "hike your own hike.". Apologies to Tom Waits, but he summarizes my thoughts well (with a minor modification from me):. And the...

To Stroll Through The Fields: What is bravery?

http://atbree.blogspot.com/2011/10/what-is-bravery.html

To Stroll Through The Fields. Appalachian Trail thru-hiking blog. Tuesday, October 18, 2011. I keep coming back to this question, because for some reason, people keep telling me that I am brave because I spent six months on the Appalachian Trail. Whenever I’m confronted with someone making this statement, I respond with the following question: Why? The answers I receive are, I think, very insightful about the fears held by the people who are applauding me for bravery, and say very little about me. The pa...
