rugged parenthood: Will to learn
http://atypicalparenthood.blogspot.com/2012/06/will-to-learn.html
Saturday, June 9, 2012. When my son saw me leafing through a newly bought workbook, he sat beside me on the bed and looked at the picture of the pig on a number recognition and counting activity. He said, "a pencil." What he meant. Was "I want a pencil." During our tutorial sessions, I sometimes purposely neglect to provide him with writing or coloring tools after handing him a worksheet to encourage him to notice what is missing and make the appropriate requests. What do you want? Stay Quirky, My Friends.

Tuesday, June 26, 2012. I grew up in a neighborhood without any playground but with plenty of trees for children to climb. There were many reasons for me and my playmates to climb trees, among them were to pluck ripe fruits and shake the branches to dislodge June beetles, but most of the time we climbed them just for. Life with an Alphabet Soup Child. AS, ASD, ADHD, ODD, PTSD . Which letters are in your soup? Soup of the Day. Saturday, April 14, 2012. This morning I came to a sad realization. My daughter, just shy of four years old, reached a crucial childhood milestone this morning, one that every parent longs for. In doing so, she flew right past her big brother, who is nearly twelve, and who has not yet mastered that particular skill. I'm worried as to whether he will ever master it. Someday, she will learn how to ...

Monday, March 10, 2014. You Don't Remember The Score. If you think back to the first sporting event you went to, you don't remember the score, you don't remember a home run, you don't remember a dunk. You remember who you were with.
