Life with a Southern Accent. I tend to read non-fiction. I will read fiction – but it’s usually a children’s book. When my girlfriends press me, I read grown-up fiction and even like it, but those are few and far between since having Claire and now homeschooling. This page is to help me track books I’m reading. Please post any recommendations! I got a Kindle for Christmas 2010. This could make my time management skills worse. Currently loaded is Ken Follett’s “World Without End. Back to Well-Trained Mind.

Living where we do, I’m sorta used to be outnumbered. Recently, I’ve met (and embraced) 2 other liberal-leaning spouses on my street and one at co-op (who even invited me to a protest! Rachel was selected through the gifted program that she participates in at school for a summer college program at Mercer University. She is attending a math class in the mornings and a writing class in the afternoons. It is only for 1 week but she is truly enjoying it. We are so proud of her and her accomplishments at school. Stop and Smell the Diesel. Wednesday, May 13, 2009. We traveled to Skidaway Island. Near Savannah, for Mother's Day weekend. On Saturday, we enjoyed the beach at Tybee Island. During the day and then visited Savannah that evening for dinner. We ate dinner at the Pirate's House. On Sunday, we went out for breakfast at the Original Pancake House. We went to Fort Pulaski. Stop and Smell the Diesel. Monday, May 25, 2009. We joined Harold and Gail this past weeekend and camped at the Treemont Resort. In Townsend, TN. Luckily, we only had rain part of the day on Sunday. We arrived in the afternoon on Friday. We ate dinner at the Little River Bar-B-Que. On Saturday, we did a little bit of hiking during the morning in the Tremont area and then had lunch in Townsend at the Apple Valley Country Store. On Sunday, we decided to head into Pigeon Forge to the Wonderworks Museum.

Therapy on a Shoestring. Every step takes us a little closer to where we want to be. Izzy gave herself another hair cut this past Saturday. She cut her bangs REALLY short this time and cut a good bit off the left side of her head. I took her in on Sunday to get it “fixed” and she decided on a really short style. I know.you guys are probably thinking 1 of several things…. 1) You let her get the scissors AGAIN? 2) Since when does a 4-year-old get to decide on her hair cut. 3) Short hair on a little girl?
