http://blog.djempirical.com/2012/05/here-have-some-covers-of-iron-maiden.html
Tuesday, May 01, 2012. Here have some covers of Iron Maiden. I've been working a bit on a covers EP under my schädel alias, which I will likely share on Bandcamp. I likely will not be doing any Iron Maiden covers, so here are a couple from Bandcamp that you may enjoy. Hallowed Be Thy Name by Edmund Welles: the bass clarinet quartet. Can we play with Maiden? 666 vs 808, an Electro Tribute to Iron Maiden by Star Whores. Hallowed Be Thy Name by Guignol and Mischief Brew.

Here's some of the article:. Shatner and a crew of producers, writers and actors spent more than a year planning the hoax, which involved a fake sci-fi time-travel feature titled "Invasion Iowa" that Shatner purportedly wrote, directed, produced and starred in. Meyer Brown Wooten | DJ Empirical
http://blog.djempirical.com/2012/08/meyer-brown-wooten.html
Wednesday, August 22, 2012. When i was younger, around my college years, i taped the Lonesome Pine Special. That this came from. it was a time in my capricious music fandom youth where i was easily impressed by technical virtuosity, and thus was a sucker for the thing that Victor Wooten does. No, more like formality. Where he'd sort of color inside the lines and then just furiously go all over the place in a controlled fashion, and then dart back like nothing. so cool.

Wednesday, August 22, 2012. I worry sometimes that i like a style or genre generically, without having the refinement and/or education to be able to really discern good from bad within a context. kinda like when it comes to beer, i love IPAs, but i'm unsure whether i could really tell a good one from a bad one. honestly, though i've tried many many IPAs, i cant think of one i really don't like. Do i like it just because of what it is, and not how good it is?

Paul McCartney as Ron Mael | DJ Empirical
http://blog.djempirical.com/2013/02/paul-mccartney-as-ron-mael.html
Sunday, February 10, 2013. Paul McCartney as Ron Mael. The other day, Evan (of Skeleton Hands. Hipped me to the fact that Paul McCartney paid sideways tribute to Ron Mael of Sparks in the video to McCartney's 1980 hit, "Coming Up". McCartney got the personality dead on, but looks like he chickened out a bit on the moustache. (Ron has a Chaplin 'stache, whereas Paul in the vid has merely a smallish one.). Evan just hit me up with this gif from the vid:.

Monday, August 26, 2013. I just love the comments on challenging youtube vids. Want to have some fun? Read the comments on a Derek Bailey vid. Go take a peek. Pretty great. Chris Randall added this, which echos my views on this:. It always amazes me that people that make music like 20 people dig are always the ones that people get the most butthurt about. Chris Randall (@Chris Randall) August 26, 2013. I just want to say "if you were in charge, the only music we'd have would be The Eagles.".

BOWLING for SHIVA | DJ Empirical

Monday, October 15, 2012. Bowling For Shiva: A Tribute To The League by Beefy. So, my dude Rusty Shackles. Hit me up a few months ago, asking whether I'd be interested in contributing a beat for Beefy's upcoming EP, Bowling for Shiva. I'm only a passing fan of The League. The show it's a tribute to, but I love both Paul Scheer and Jason Mantzoukas. And who doesn't. Love Janina Gavankar, who plays Shiva? I of course said yes. The EP is embedded above, though you can go grab the whole thing on bandcamp.

Thursday, March 29, 2012. With my frequent usage of twitter. My blog traffic has gone way down, but I have a few items to mention:. I donated a track (under my schädel alias) to the benefit compilation Sorghum. Download the whole comp for $4 (or more; it's a benefit after all) and get "Merma", along with tons of other great tunes. I just did a 5 minute minimix entitled " Follow the Mustache. It's a bit like the minimixes Annie Mac has on her BBC show. Seventeen tracks in five minutes!

Wednesday, August 14, 2013. I just saw a piece on t.A.T.u.'s "All the Things She Said" turning 10. And I remembered I'd just seen a different post on Grime turning 10. And I realized that (though my talents wouldn't necessarily reflect it) I've been dj-ing for over a decade, and remember finding these things while on the internet at work (shhhhhh, don't tell my boss) (wait that boss isn't there any more). Looks like I'd just confirmed the Evolution Control Committee. As of that post, the lineup was:.
