It utilizes feature extraction and a self-organized map to map each song in a collection to a square in a grid of cells. This music collection has over 5000 tracks from a variety of genres and styles. The styles are placed on the Self-Organizing Map in a fashion where similar songs are placed in adjacent locations on the grid.
