June 25, 2014. It came to my attention that all my promotional photos were taken a reasonable while ago. This is a common feature in the opera world and I must admit that I do laugh at people who have promotional shots from the days before male pattern baldness or crow’s feet kicked in. So, to make sure I am not a hypocrite, I felt it was about time I got some new ones done. I had a recommendation from Audition Oracle. Anyway she recommended Rebecca Need-Menear. Here are some of the pics:. You are commen...

Song, Stage and Story: February 2014
http://songstageandstory.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Song, Stage and Story. Monday, 17 February 2014. This article first appeared in auditionoracle.com. We've not only been thinking about the Winter Olympics but also about a video we've recently seen in which the fine - and young - American soprano Angela Meade talks about the 55 competitions that she has won in her career. Quite apart from the boost in profile and consequent opportunities such success brings, there is also the not insignificant issue of prize money. Secondly, a competition usually has an ...

July 23, 2014. I have just returned from an amazing week at the magical Minack Theatre singing the role of Mario Cavaradossi in Tosca. Song, Stage and Story. Friday, 17 January 2014. The Answer To Everything, Streetwise Opera. S ambitious project The Answer To Everything. But assimilated in a clever tapestry of narrative meandering, operatic interpolation and film-to-stage fourth wall hopping. It's superb. I saw The Answer To Everything. http://songstageandstory.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Song, Stage and Story. Friday, 23 May 2014. New Music Theatre in London this May. One is able to see new music drama performances in London at almost any time. Usually the summer sees a spike in this sort of activity with the Grimeborn and Tete a Tete opera festivals. However, this May seems to have served up more than our fair share of diverse and probing musical theatrics. Or maybe I've just had the opportunity to go to plenty of them.
